Arriving to Happy Happy... Again
As the heroes descended towards Lier's house, it became quickly apparent that the Sky Runner was not slowing down. With a racket, the flying machine crashed into Lier's house, leaving yet another hole in the roof.
Escaping the smoking wreck, the party found Lier outside, looking over his house. He thought, then said, "Ya know, I think I needed a new home anyway. No need to apologize, I know you've got important stuff to take care of. Hurry along now!"
The party entered Happy Happy Village for the third time now. As they approached the blue church, they found it was now being guarded by three cultists. Since they didn't want to stir up too much of a racket, they knew they needed to be sneaky. John Smith walked up to one as a distraction, while the others snuck around.
John simply asked the cultist 'how life's been.' The cultist was obviously not very bright and was surprisingly open. He began venting, "Oh, it's been real tough. Ever since the whole cultist business started up, money's been a real problem. Working for no profit's not helping those bills, ya know? Heh heh... But I can't just stop! It's like... something is keeping me here..."
John, taken aback a little about how open the cultist was, sympathized with him. Being the most average joe, John could understand the common issues, like finances. John actually started giving the cultist... Financial advice!? What a strange turn...
While the other teammates attempted to sneak around the guards, however, one of the cultists noticed them. In almost an instant, all three of them began a fight. It wasn't a very quick one, though. Two of the cultists were defeated with no trouble at all, and the third stood shaking in front of John.
He didn't want to fight. This knight had helped him, why should he fight him? But the voice was too strong... Fighting back tears, the Cultist jumped at John, regretting everything, but unable to stop. One of the other party members knocked him out, knowing there was no way to stop him peacefully. Something was definitely forcing him to be aggressive... It must be Mr. Carpainter. Another reason why he needs to be stopped.
After the battle, the party looked around the battle field. Paula kneeled at the foot of her Teddy Bear. This whole time, the stuffed bear had been jumping in front of attacks, selflessly protecting the party. Now, it had taken too much of a beating. With stuffing spilling into the grass, the bear was certainly too damaged to continue. Vike sat next to Paula and comforted her.
Entering the church, they found it was in the same crowded condition as before. Since it seemed everybody was completely lost in a chanting trance, they were able to get through with no problem. Walking up the stairs, they arrived at the door to Mr. Carpainter's office.
I don't quite remember, but John must've made some sort of crazy Persuasion roll on talking to that Cultist to get him to talk. I have just now decided his name is Marco.
The Teddy Bear worked similarly to its Earthbound mechanic. When it's with someone, and that person is attacked, it jumps in the way to absorb the damage. It had 30 HP in all. Rest in Peace Teddy :,(
