Turning boring into awesome: Stat Upgrades

Hey again, fans! For the past week or so I've been working on a new song! But it has only served to remind me that *music is hard*. In order to recharge my creativity, I took a break to go build a new feature in the shop: Stat Upgrades.

Yeah, yeah. So you pay money to make some in-game numbers go up. Big whoop. After making them just as boring as they sound in Ignition, I've made an effort to make them more rewarding to purchase this time around. Now you can watch a progress bar fill up while also watching your changes take effect in real-time in the HUD.

But enough of that lame technical talk - anyone curious what the third stat is for? Well, if you pay attention to the top of the screen, you'll see three item slots light up as you buy that upgrade. These are for nanotech items, which can be equipped to give you various bonuses during missions. Those will naturally be the focus of my next new feature for the shop, so stay tuned for more info!

Between the 3 character upgrades, the stat boosts, and 3 pieces of nanotech, you're going to be able to make your characters REALLY overpowered. It's gonna be awesome.

And don't worry! There will be plenty of new ways to earn money to pay for all of these new toys!

Rejoice! The jankiest puzzle in the game has been re-done.

It's still a little fiddly, but now the boulder's less likely to do screwy things like get stuck on a platform, or teleport you to the side on touch.

I thought the escape sequence in Chapter 2 didn't have enough urgency to it, so I spiced it up a little.

I also wrote a new song to go with it!

Keep an eye out for this in the next update, coming... whenever I feel like it.

Happy New Year!

It's been a while since I last posted, but I've still been hard at work with the first chapter of Kodon's story.

And to show for it, we have this stylish fellow - he may be slippery, but he's no match for Kodon's homing shot!

Hmm, what was that someone said about backstabbing?

Avast! Space pirates!

And what's a captain without his crew? These scoundrels will be among the first to make life difficult for you in Phase 3.

Egad, what's with all the enemies popping out of the walls lately? Can't you all just sit out in the open like proper gentlemen?

And here's the shop animation for last week's new flail weapon.

Its jump attack hits a wide area, making it perfect for swatting flying enemies!

Operative Delta, elite assassin.

She'll play some sort of part in Kodon's upcoming story content.

The only question is just how much stabbing this part will involve!

There's something off about this room.

Almost as if we've entered a new dimension - a THIRD dimension.

Anyway, Construct 3 has had 3D features for a while and I decided to play with them a little. What do you think? Cool effect? Too jarring?

Sweet victory.

Kodon's prologue level is DONE! That's milestone 1 of 4 for completing Phase 3 and reaching Crucible's final release.

Stay tuned for more news in the coming months!
