Hey! I decided to write this devlog as I've seen some people confused on how the next update is going, or what it even is about, as well as show some 𝙰𝚠𝚎𝚜𝚘𝚖𝚎 𝚂𝚝𝚊𝚝𝚜 regarding the completion of the upcoming Campaign Mode.
Q1: What is V.1.6.4 about?
Version 1.6.4 is the next update for Ultra Custom Night, which has been in development for a full 10 months as of this post going live! That's a long time, innit?
In case you're interested, a betatesting build came out for it almost half a year ago. It includes a few of the new characters, but no Campaign stuff.
The best sources of content information are the two videos we have released in the past few:
Ultra Custom Night - Trailer 3 and Ultra Custom Night v1.6.4 - Promo Video
As well as the official Discord server for my projects, which is linked in the description of the UltraCN Gamejolt page. It has announcements regarding specific character additions as they are programmed into the game.
Q2: What's Campaign Mode?
Campaign Mode is a new mode that will be added to the game in version 1.6.4, a story mode, if you will. I'm hesitant on revealing much plot details right now, I'd like a lot of it to be a surprise for when the update properly comes out.
So, how do you play it? What's the gameplay?
The thing we've been putting a lot of work into is the Overworld itself. It's styled after the original Steam release of FNaF World, with its 8-bit style. There's a lot of characters around which you can talk to, some might be just for a joke, others some story elements, some vital to progressing through the game (I do mean a lot of dialogue, over 600 lines of dialogue right now, and still counting)
Around the place, you will find things, I cannot say quite what they are and why you need them yet, but interacting with them lets you play a preset night!
There's quite a bit of these, and most give you special unlockables you can then use in the Custom Mode. That includes skins, offices, whatever else. No, no characters or night mechanics will be unlockable through Campaign Mode, only optional, mostly cosmetic stuff.
Oh yeah, I've been revealing a bit of the Soundtrack for Campaign Mode for page follower milestones. These are for the Overworld itself, including area themes, character themes, event themes, whatever else you need in a quirky RPG-like game. Though, the revealed stuff is only a fraction of what's already done, in fact, over 50 minutes of music has already been composed for the game, and it's only getting higher!
I'd like to say Campaign Mode's development is going great, but still, a LOT is yet to be done. I really want this to be as good as it can be and that requires a lot of time, thank you for your patience.
Q3: Can we expect Freddy Chair to make an appearance in the next version?
Yes, thank you for asking.
I think that's all I really wanted to say, thank you for reading, and as Freddybear would say:
"What is up my guy."
