Boo! Happy Halloween, guys!
For this holiday, we decided to tell you about the current development process of Undertale: Cracked, the planned future of the game and a few other things. Welcome to the new entry of the Devblog!
We decided to wish you a Happy Halloween and have prepared a special gif as well as a special soundtrack for this post. Enjoy!
First of all, we'd like to tell you about some interesting facts during the development and introduce you to a new team member!
Additions to the team
The Undertale: Cracked development team is growing! Welcome to the team, BingoLoveTaco!
What does he do in the project? You'll find out in the next development post!
Interesting facts
The project was originally conceived as a kind of horror. Currently it is not known in which direction the style of the game will go. It all depends on the author of the universe - Somehow
As of the release of this post, 835 days have passed between the first mention of the game and the start of development , 735 days have passed since the release of the first alpha version . Exactly 100 days have passed between the start of development and the release of the first alpha version.
There are more than 20 people working on the universe, but only 6 of them are fully active on the game itself.
The main reason for the stalling of updates is lack of plot and lack of sprite artists.
First players will remember that the game was previously called “Cracktale” when the Alpha version was released. After the project was renamed to “Undertale: Cracked”. Few people may have noticed that a little later in a certain period of time the game was called “Undertale: Brocken”. Afterwards, we brought back the title “Undertale: Cracked”.
By the way, there was a mistake in the new title (Brocken - Broken).
Sometimes the project is still referred to as “Cracktale” for simplicity within the team.
Next update
Attention!
All innovations given in this part of the record are in development and may change or not be realized.
We have an innovation plan for the next major update! Here are some of the innovations:
Extending the plot and concluding the first chapter.
Replacing ALL music in the game with music written by us.
Adding ACHIEVEMENTS.
New Interface in the menu.
Dialogue History.
New menu.
A website was created for the game, but the idea had to be abandoned. Perhaps one day we will return to work on it.
System of displaying names of part of regions, when moving to a new location.
Mobile version development
In last development blog, work on the mobile version of Undertale: Cracked was mentioned. We are ready to give you a concept of some controls for the mobile port.
The mobile port will be released at the same time as the global update!
Simplifying development
Since the last devblog, we have been creating and updating a system of game development plans in Word-document format. Such a system clearly reflects what the developers are working on and helps not to forget important things.
By the way, this development record is also being written in Word at the moment (a few days before the release on GameJolt).
Plans for the future
In fact, most of the forward-looking issues are still under discussion, so it's too early to talk about them yet However, we can say that all further innovations will be aimed at improving the quality of the game We will mention some of them in the next development post in passing.
