Where we have been
Hi! We know its been a while since our last progress report but were back with much more content to showcase.
Firstly I would like to clarify that the game has not been in hiatus and although some team members did experience some mishaps due to exam time, progress has still been consistent in the past few months. We also are looking forward to releasing a demo pretty soon due to development looking a lot more structured. The game was then rebooted since a few months and a lot has changed.
This devlog is also considered to signify that we could potentially consider that we are in full production but not quite.
Secondly, we've recruited new team members which helped a lot with the production of Fractured to go smoothly:
Nutt_biggin and Samsandwiches both concept artists
Pickled, a very talented promo and concept artist
Jo, a promo artist
Outlerlet, jakey and 45werqt as musicians
And finally, Lunette as a writer
Now onto the progress report:
Designs/Characters:
Right off the bat, Sky has gone through many significant design changes as her design was too stale and that we have not communicated it in a more official way. Sam has helped a lot with figuring out her new design and we are much more satisfied with it.
She has changed through writing and she even speaks now. Her mindset is already set in stone and will quickly be exploited no matter which route the player will be taking.
Jo did an amazing job with her ref sheet!

We have also figured out the premice of the first 3 areas of the game in terms of both writing and designing but everything was focused on the first area.
The gardens illustrate the first actual area of the game and it was originally monsters who were trapped from the rest of the underground due to not agreeing with Undyne's soverenty.
This place was then built and refined for it to be considered as hopeful and charming enough for residents to not feel trapped inside it.

Concept by Pickled
We would like to also introduce a new character introduced in that same area.
Her name is Mimzy, a fox monster who noticed the residents growing impatient and yearning for an eventual escape from the gardens. She then decided to establish a choir in order to bring monsters together with music.
She is pretty young and has a very caring personality especially for humans considering the underground's dangerous state at this point in time. But can't help her sass sometimes
Both Sam and Nutt helped a lot bringing her design together and the final design turned out really nice!

The in game artstyle has been picked and will be consistent throughout the whole game and areas. Here is a mockup on how the gardens would look in game. The same style base has been picked from the snowdin mockup uploaded some time back.

The snowdin tiles have also slightly been tweaked so the whole area wouldn't feel too jarring or messy.

Snowdin will also start being concepted following this devlog to lead into a new area indicated by the thumbnail of this devlog.
Writing and engine progress
As seen in the previous part of this devlog, the characters and story progression of section is almost done. Some cutscenes just need to be written as they will be implemented in the game sometime later.
Both our writers have been helping a bunch and helped to bring this area together a lot more.
Programming wise was more tedious than most other departments but outi has helped a lot in putting the overworld system together along with menus and cutscenes in the future.
Chordprod has also helped with custom sound effects helping the ow menu showcase to feel more complete.

This screenshot is in game unlike the other 2 showcases which were mockups, a small video snippet has been uploaded on bluesky. Foreground effects will also be added for this area
We are planning to create custom game borders as well in the future soon enough so they will be included in game as soon as they are made.
Music
We've hired musicians recently as well and have cooked up some osts for the soundtrack with more on the way.
Some were eventually scrapped but we got to release 2 new pieces from the soundtrack to the public.

Whats next
That certainly took a while but we arrived at a pretty good stage of development so far. A playable build may be possible in the next month or 2 of development but it ultimately matters ino the teams disponibility.
Anywho thank you very much for reading this far, this devlog was not the easiest for me to make and write along with lots of other assets but we're here now! And its amazing how far this fangame has come in order to ground itself in good standarts.
