Undertale Red & Yellow - 2.1.0 Update
It's highly recommended you read the article, as a lot of stuff has happened since 2.0.2!


Tadaa!! This should, hopefully, be the final update for Version 2 of the mod. It originally started as v2.0.3 and was only comprised of bug fixes, but we made a few additions to areas we felt could be improved, and some additions that are... very silly. As it stands, I'm much happier with the state of the mod in its current form.

...That being said, it took so long that Undertale Yellow got an update in the time between 2.0.2 and this. Oops? I was planning to release it the 25th for 2.0's half a year anniversary, but then the Undertale Memories thing happened, so I think it's for the best that I waited.
Scroll to the bottom for the changelog, but there are a couple other things I'd like to talk about.

About time, huh? Vii did an amazing job with this one, I always thought it needed a bit of an upgrade, just having the logo against a black background didn't really give you an idea of what the mod is about.

Onetale

What's a Onetale? It's Undertale but you play as Niko from Oneshot. It's a really cool mod, and I'm not just saying that because I got to add one or two things on it.

It got a big update pretty recently, so check it out if you're interested!

Deltarune was SO GOOD

This may come as a shock to you, but I am a really really really really really big fan of Deltarune Chapters 3 and 4. They're so incredibly engaging story-wise, gameplay-wise, everything-wise... Easily surpasses all but 2 games and has set itself in my top 3 favorite videogames. I aspire to make something even a third THIS good in my lifetime.

...After playing Deltarune, a project like this might seem underwhelming in comparison, but I'll try my best to give you all an experience you'll have fun with. Just because you see someone better than you, that's no excuse to go and quit trying, y'hear! You've all got the potential to make something great!

I still find it unbelievable that you've all given me this opportunity to make something I'm truly proud of.

Whether Red & Yellow was an excuse to play the wonderful game that is Undertale, or to spend more time with Clover, or just to see what all the fuzz was about, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I don't know where I'd be without you.

CHANGELOG:

  • Genocide dialogue almost entirely rewritten.

  • Added a cutscene at the end of True Lab (Ideally this would've been in 2.0 but the deadline was very close by the time I got to it)

  • Added TALK dialogue for a few rooms in the CORE which didn't have any.

  • Added a remix of ASGORE by Ann.

  • Updated the Souls Border!

  • Added additional sprites for El Bailador, and improved the charting for his encounter a bit.

  • Added additional visuals for a True Lab encounter.

  • Added controller support.

  • Added a way to add your own custom talk sprites without even having to mod the game!

  • Using this system, added new talk sprites by Jester_Program!

  • The Barrier, the Asgore and Asriel fights, as well as the Genocide ending effects now cover the whole screen when using borders.

  • Tweaked and added a few lines of dialogue.

  • Added a new name easter egg.

  • Improved the Settings menu UI.

  • Added a setting to always have the ghosts appear beside you in the overworld.

  • Added a framerate setting which should help fix issues when running the game in a non-windows device.

  • Added a very dumb setting.

  • Added the Super Gravitron.

  • Added an option to skip to the Special Thanks in the True Pacifist cast roll after you've already seen The End.

  • Fixed a bunch of dialogue errors.

  • Fixed an issue with TALK functioning as a sort of Punch Card (lol.)

  • Fixed a crash in True Lab.

  • Fixed an issue with the Blurry Photos not displaying correctly when used.

  • Fixed the "Miss" dialogue being offscreen in the Asgore boss fight.

  • Fixed a graphical issue when climbing onto a bed in the True Lab.

  • Fixed an issue where the Instant Noodles would desync the battle music in the Core.

  • Fixed an issue with the umbrella sprite being used while running after dropping it off.

  • Fixed Nice Cream guy dialogue in New Home.

  • The game no longer thinks you killed Muffet if you spare her after killing a monster. (Thanks, Toby.)

  • The fires in the core room to the right of the first elevator no longer disappear if you've killed Toriel. (Thanks, Toby.)

  • Default was fixed (THANKS, TOB- oh wait no that was my bad.)

  • Fixed an issue when retrying during the Mettaton fight.

  • Slightly nerfed some attacks during a fight.

  • Fixed certain tile errors.

  • Fixed other minor errors.

  • Removed Gaster.


What's Next?

Well, after this, there will probably be one more huge update, even bigger than 2.0. It will take time. Maybe a year. Maybe more. But I will see to it that it gets done. We've already got some really exciting things planned out, and working on 2.1 has made me feel a bit more prepared for the road ahead. It may be a while until we've got enough for a devlog, so don't forget about lil' old me, alright?
