Undertale sweet promises christmas mini devlog!


hey everyone, it's Maria (Francy) here! this is NOT the first actual devlog for the game but just a recap of what i've been thinking to do with the game throught this year as a christmas gift, yup, i've been working to think about this game for the whole year and trust me, i've changed the story A LOT, but first for those who are new..

uhm..what is "Undertale sweet promises"??????

glad you asked! Undertale sweet promises is (yet another) fan made prequel that follows the story of Ingrid and Stacy, two 15 year old girls that possess the souls of integrity and perseverance respectively, if you are wondering if this concept sounds familiar to you...well, you're not entirely wrong, this game takes strong inspiration from Undertale kindred spirits but it also has a completly different take of the Undertale lore from it. The game will also talk about sensitive topics, don't expect too much heavy topics but..yeah, the game is not your typical Undertale fan game, much like Undertale Wildfire. it will also add psycological horror elements (especially in the neutral runs and genocide), the game is still in very early development and i only have one team member for now that is @Reeds_Archive i'll explain how to join the team below, but for now, let's talk what i've been thinking to do with the game so far.

combat system

i have quite of few ideas for the combat system, it will still have your typical Undertale/Deltarune based combat but...this time you'll have to balance more than one character. like to spare the enemies Ingrid and Stacy have to combine their ACT actions in order to spare the opponents, sounds hard? well, worry not cause Ingrid and Stacy will have special ACT abilities that gives side effects to the opponents making them more sparable, the problem is..it costs TP (i will name it in another way in game), as for FIGHTING the enemies...well, it's pretty much the same, of course i'm not explaining how you'll have to combine Ingrid and Stacy's attacks to deal more damage IMO, and for the souls modes..I don't have much ideas for those so far, but i'll think about them eventually

animated cutscenes????

maybe, i've been thinking to add animated cutscenes for the game, it's an idea i got to do few days ago so it's still very very early but never say otherwise!

a tagging system????????

hell yeah! since this game takes inspiration from Omori also, it will have a tagging system, it basically works like the one in Omori, you tag a character from the menu and that character becomes the party leader, each characters have unique abilities that are useful to solve certain puzzles...wait, did i said more characters? yup, some of the characters of the main cast will join Ingrid and Stacy and will help them through small sections of their journey, or maybe for the rest of it, you know what's the best part? they will also help you in battles! they have their own souls modes, ACT abilities and other stuff!

will a demo come out?

you're even asking? yes, of course a demo will come out, i don't know when but...someday, when it's ready, though i have to make a condition: this will be the ONLY demo i'll release for the game, i just don't want to release small sections of it every 2-3 years and i want me and the team to focus more on the full game, the demo will be fairly long though, it will contain:

  • the prologue

  • the ruins

  • home

  • and the snowdin forest

that's pretty much all the sections the demo will have. now, for everyone that are interested in joining the team..

do you need help? and if yes, how can i join the team?

yes! we need your help for this game, we just need:

  • game maker coders

  • animators

  • composers

  • play testers

  • and, maybe even writers...?

and..yeah, that's pretty much it for the early chirstmas mini devlog, sorry if it was dissapointing for you but we have done little things for the game so far since we are only two people working on it for now, but i hope you guys enjoyed it, anyways, merry christmas eve everyone and have a nice night with your families! and remember, stay honest 💙💜

love how in the artbook even the devs said that they knew that Flowey's existence was uncanon at the time justice fell, although they still kept him cause being 100% faithful was boring and predictable
