Introduction:
Hello everyone, Team Wonders here! Happy holidays, and welcome to the November 2024 Newsletter of Wonders of Patience! There was quite some progress made this month, we’re very excited to show it to you guys!
Before we begin though, I’d like to announce applications for Team Wonders are open again! This time, we’re looking for artists and pixel artists. More specifically for pixel artists, ones that can make battle sprites or tilesets. Please apply if you’re interested!

Programming:
Progress on programming started slow this month, but we quickly picked up the pace! We snipped the current engine quite a bit, removing many useless dependencies, which makes the game load and run much faster. Along with that, we did a lot of room work for the Ruins, with a new area within it that’ll be shown in Pixel art! We also have some cutscenes in the works.
However, a demo release is still a bit far. Apologies!
Art:
In terms of art, we got a bunch of concepts done, in special, concepts for the cast! We are aware that we have been quite secretive about them, and that’s why there are two certain folks we’d like to present to you guys! Though… if you have a good memory, you might recognize their looks.
One of the very first monsters Charlie will encounter on her journey, say hello to… Strongheart? Right, uh… Why so serious, buddy?

Oh, don’t be scared of him, I’m sure he won’t bite. But I know a certain someone that probably will do so! Remember that strange DDLC Special poem video posted a while ago, where we ‘leaked’ a member of the cast? Well, it’s finally time for you to know him properly! Say hello to Harold! He sure has a nice hat.

Boy, you wouldn’t believe the charm this little guy had on the team! We sure couldn’t live without good ol’ Harold… in fact, there was something else done relating to him, but we’ll get to it later.
Another character we’d like to show, a minor one this time, is Lyra, the lunch lady!

So far, that’s… wait, what’s this. HUH???
LYRA WHY ARE YOU SELLING A FAT BLUNT TO A CHILD. @hooded-the-original WHY WOULD YOU DRAW THIS.
…SO FAR, that’s probably about it! Maybe you’ll meet more of our cast soon? Who knows.
Pixel Art:
We got a lot of progress in terms of pixel art done this month. As a refresher, we had finished Charlie’s sprites!

A bit after, we got Harold’s sprites done too. While they might go through slight changes in the future, these are pretty much the final version.

Not only that, but we also got some cool sprites for his floating hands!

Character sprites aside… Let’s talk about rooms! First, here’s a few other rooms from the Ruins we have finished.
Now, what you all have been waiting to see… the new area within the Ruins!
Welcome to the Tunnels! Dirt passages built below the Ruins, serving as fast travel to the city, Home. They are also intertwined with the Sewage System of the Ruins, so Charlie will come across some sewer rooms as she progresses, like shown in the video. Keep in mind that this is still a work in progress, and will most likely change in the future. Despite that, we hope you enjoy how it currently looks…
Now, that’s… not again. WHAT IS THIS. WHO DID THIS TO YOU HAROLD. WHY WOULD YOU @JonnoPonno
NOW. That’s probably all we have to show in terms of Pixel art…
Writing:
There was a lot of progress in terms of writing this month.
We have a fully fledged Neutral/Pacifist route outline for the Ruins, along with a more bare-bones outline for the rest of the areas. All that’s left is to complete the Distant route outline for the Ruins, and a more full outline of the other areas. Along with that, we have most cutscenes for the Ruins fully written, aside from a few variations depending on the choices made. Here’s a few sneak peaks (with a bunch of… Harold). We hope we’re able to show these fully done in game soon.
Along with that, we got most items for the Ruins planned, all with their effects and descriptions. Here’s a few of them!
A little fun fact is that a few of these have special effects, like the Rock Candy for example, that increases AT.
That’s all for now in terms of writing! There sadly isn’t much to report, since we already got a pretty good idea of how the game will go, and also because of spoilers…
Music:
As surprising as it sounds… We finally made progress on music! Big progress too. Area, character, and more types of themes!
First things first, we updated our game over theme “Patience”, which was renamed to "Don't Lose your Patience!". Along with that, it uses more chiptune-y instruments now, to resemble UNDERTALE’s game over theme more closely.

Right after, we got themes for the Ruins and the Tunnels made too! We had already shown the Ruins’ theme, but it’s probably worth mentioning again! These were certainly quite fun to play around with.

And last but not least, we got Harold’s theme done! We hope it’s able to convey his… ‘exotic’ personality enough.

Conclusion:
Before concluding this month’s newsletter, we got a few final notes to make!
First of all, we made a Bluesky account! We will likely still post on Twitter, but with much less frequency and without any art for the game posted there.
https://bsky.app/profile/teamwonders.bsky.social
Along with that, we decided to make our own public Discord server! You’ll be able to talk to other UNDERTALE fans, discuss WoP, and much more! There are also some future ‘events’ that will be hosted on the server, so make sure to join!
Now… That’s all, everyone! Thank you for your interest. See you in the next Newsletter, and don’t lose your PATIENCE!
