Gravity 0.3 is Here!
After (far) too long of a wait, I have decided to release Gravity: version 0.3. Thanks everyone for your support and waiting :)
What’s new
Redesigned the Store so that it doesn’t look like a horrible designer made it, because I am not a horrible designer.
Added multiple balloons:
Doggo
Lil’ Houston
Aliens
Up
The game now actually says who it’s made by (that’s me, Isaac Shea)
The GRAVITY Title logo looks a bit thicker and just generally better. It also sports a new custom typeface I made, as does other titles now.
The stars now show a nicer parallax effect, making the game seem generally better and less trash looking as you fly. They also might spin.
The end game screen now calculates your coins based on how many coins you collected, and no longer gives you a coin for every metre you travel. Sorry, if you wanted to buy stuff.
Speaking of the end game screen, it now looks far nicer and uses the new title font. Your welcome, everyone who asked for it (which was nobody btw).
There is a new pause game screen (which was by popular demand), but you have to wait 10 seconds once the game starts to use it so we know you actually want to play.
Another new addition :) A tutorial sequence that will only happen the first time you play the game.
Clouds! Adding to the ever-expanding realism of the game is now clouds that start to appear when you can pause the game.
Bug Fixes
Fixed the rather irritating bug that allowed powerups to not die when you restarted the game.
Fixed that rather unusual bug that made objects go semitransparent upon ending the game. It was weird, and to be honest I still don’t know what caused it.
Thanks to the shop redesign, the powerups now accurately show up how much you have upgraded them, and it now doesn’t let you “hack” them over the limit (sorry Dylan).
(mostly) fixed the bug where opening the shop before the title sequence was finished would show up the lack of dark-screen-ness until the sequence was finished.
I’ve also attempted to increase stability and screen-size compatibility across other devices so that you can play on a wider/larger/ screen without too many issues. Despite this, I only have 16:9 computer screens available to me, so I can’t test it sorry.
Other Notes
Gravity, Gravity Gold and Gravity Together are no longer coming to Xbox, iOS or Android, or MacOS (except through Wine). This is because Game Maker: Studio (1.4), which is what I’m using, has removed the ability to export to those platforms, despite me purchasing them. -.- Thanks Yoyo Games. A huge apology to everyone that wanted this game there, but I’m hoping to move across to Unity one day.
This means that touch support has also been removed, and pretty much the whole game’s GUI had to be redesigned because of this. Not to mention Wnidows’ management of touch input is absolutely crap so whatever.
Sorry about the long wait y’all, I had alot to do, I went away on a number of trips, school exists, and Windows 10 had to update .-. (TWICE O.O) and in doing so broke the game engine for about a month. So I couln’t work on anything and so on.
Note that it is for this reason that I hate Windows 10. And everything Microsoft except the Xbox.
I have also removed the Made By Rabbit logo from everything because I am launching my website soon (isaacshea.com) and it was confusing people in the title sequence.
I have also started officially working on Gravity Together (yay!) and there may be a neat competition soon…
Shout out to Dylan for getting the game to actually break, he went that far. Not from devotion, unfortunately, but he hacked the game’s savecodes and game himself essentially unlimited speed and ghost touch. He managed to get the game to go so far upwards the game engine itself errored because his score was so high.
Note that despite his huge speed he did have to play the game continuously for about 3 days.
Have fun beating his highscore of 13.5 Trillion Trillion plus score. The game now starts in a borderless mode (that looks exactly the same as it would in fullscreen) but it just means it is quicker on external displays, and it seems to have fixed the bug with “glitchy” effects on some computers.
So thanks everyone for your continuing support and feedback!
