UPDATE 1/1/26 - What's been done up to now #devlog #indiegame #horror #surveillance #liminal

Hello again, back from my unexpected silence for a while. Don't know when I'll post again but I'll try to jot down what's been currently done.

First thing's first, every character's AI mechanic in game has been finished in terms of how they will act. However, due to some unexpected side effects on how i coded their AI, right now I'm working on adjusting and perfecting these mechanics as much as I can so that it causes less chaotic conflict during gameplay.

One of these major changes involving their coding was changing their movement and jumpscares timers completely to be more adjustable when starting a game or when the game gets harder over time. Depending on how much characters are active during gameplay, they will have an extra few seconds before attacking in order to give you a fair advantage in dealing with them. Alongside that, some of the base mechanics involving the cameras have also been slightly adjusted to make it much easier.

The artwork for the characters in the camera is still being worked on, so far only two characters have fully been completed, but the rest still needs to be started. Certain graphics for other things such as option buttons and animations for jumpscares still need to be worked on but right now i want to focus on making sure everything at least properly works.

Finally, a proper main menu has been created to make things easier. however, only a few options actually work right now as the rest needs to be fully implemented. However, those won't be worked on until way later as my main focus is on the actual gameplay at the moment.

On other news, with how much ideas i have for this game,  and especially how long it's gonna take to implement those, I've decided that the best course of action right now is to split these ideas into major updates to the game after the official full release. With how much it's taking with working on just ONE camera level set, and with a total of 5 planned, those other 4 camera levels will be worked on AFTER release, or at the very least as soon as artwork is done for the first camera level sets. That also means other concepts for the game such as a certain difficulty and a  customizable game mode will be added later on in order to make sure they won't conflict with whatever else I'm working on.

There were also ideas for alternate "costumes" for these characters in order to make gameplay more interesting (appearance wise not mechanic wise) but those were ultimately scrapped. HOWEVER, depending on how I'm feeling i might add them AFTER everything is set and done, but that's not guaranteed.

Anyways that's all that I have to share. I'll update as soon as I can with this game and anything else I'm working on, take care
