Pokemon Trainer Red has now joined the roster!
Red is a [Unique]-type character that utilizes the three Kanto starter Pokemon—Squirtle, Charmander, and Bulbasaur. Naturally, each Pokemon has a unique type of projectile, which makes Red a versatile character indeed.
Bulbasaur is your default Pokemon at the start of every level. Bulbasaur uses Razor Leaf, which shoots two leaves forward, one of which arcs upwards. Both leaves can penetrate enemies, and you’ll do double damage if both leaves connect with the same enemy. Individually, the leaves are weak, so the key is to hit your opponent with both. Needless to say, Bulbasaur is a fairly reliable Pokemon. But if grass type Pokemon aren’t your thing, then hold down and push the Attack button to switch to…
… Charmander! Charmander uses Flamethrower, which is a heavy hitting close-quarters attack. Moreover, the flame can penetrate enemies, so you can easily dispatch two or more foes that are clustered together. Charmander is a riskier choice than the other two Pokemon, but if you’re brave enough to get close and personal, it can’t be beat. However, if you’re looking for a more balanced strategy, then you should definitely try…
… Squirtle! Squirtle uses Bubble, which deals the same damage as [Mixed] shots with slightly longer range. Additionally, Squirtle’s bubbles have fairly wide hitboxes, meaning you won’t have too much trouble nailing your target. The bubble range and width make Squirtle a safe Pokemon to use altogether, even if its damage output isn’t as high as the other two.
Will you stick to your favorite Pokemon, or will you select one based on the situation? There’s many ways to play. Look forward to trying Red in the next version release!
