Ayy, Soup back at it again with game progress, finally! Massive changes has happened since last time, both for the game and me personally. Also, it's True Geno's 5th anniversary! The game's ain't dead yet! Let's get into it. :D
A Problem...:
As I was developing True Geno overtime, I felt restricted with the engine I was working with. It was an old Undertale engine an old coding buddy, Colinator, let me use. It had its limits, mainly the game being made with the 30 frame rate the original Undertale had, so I just built True Geno off of that, thinking I had nothing to worry about, but the game being in 30 fps wasn't the main problem, it was the engine's code and the amount of workarounds I had to code up just to make it "functional". For instance, battles. Here's how a typical battle object would look in the old engine.
It was... very messy, to say the least. All those Alarms being dedicated to a specific battle system function. Alarm 6 was for ACT check dialogue, Alarm 7 being for bullet board dialogue, etc. This was just one instance of unstable systems within the old engine. Another one being, well...
the entire battle system controller object itself. A 1,000 lines of code of an unoptimized, broken, buggy mess of an essential game asset and where 60% of the game will be taking place at. :')
I couldn't let this fly anymore, so, instead, I made my own Undertale engine! I've been sharing progress on it on my personal Twitter, but I believe it needs a proper introduction here. This is SoupyTale! :0
It's feature rich, but unfortunately is for my private use only. It'll be used for a few fangame teams I'm in as well as True Geno, and speaking of which..
New Engine:
Due to the game being switched to my new engine, development will take longer, as do most of the game dev progress does, but you won't be disappointed. In fact, you can actually play a version of the SoupyTale engine, Soupy Runes, right now! It's a tech demo just showcasing what features I have in the engine so far. It's also an older version, so expect bugs that I've already fixed.
I'mma make you wait till the end of this post tho. ;)
Android support:
Now that I have more export options for GMS:1 by uh... "special" means... hehe, well now I can export to Android, along with consoles and more, tho my main (and probably only) focus is on Android (sorry Apple users, but Android is better anyways). I've coded SoupyTale engine to allow for both keyboard, controllers, key binding configurations, and Android touchscreens! Performance on Android may vary as it's a much more low-powered OS than PCs, but I try to optimize the engine in anyway I can and know how to.

Game Progress:
Not much game progress I can show, besides engine-related ones I've already shown above.
Caves has received a new background! Props to ScepterDPinoy!! :D
Old version:
Here's me just testing out various environment effects for Caves and Swampouts with SoupyTale.
That pretty much concludes the amount of progress made ever since the last major update. Just been working hard on making the SoupyTale engine.
Personal:
Many of you don't know this, but I actually graduated from my high school! Now I can dedicate more time into the projects I'm in. Also, I made a portfolio website for myself! Feel free to destroy it. :D
