Pixel Dropper’s 2nd patch is here! There’s nothing huge here, but there’s a lot of changes, so I’ve decided to list everything in a bullet point format. Let me know if you’d like less or more detail for future patch notes!
Reverted a change last patch which made enemy spawnrate scale with best multiplier instead of current.
Instead, enemy max speed now scales with your best multiplier to keep momentum on combo drop.
The options menu has been updated! You can now choose to replace the damage effect animation (the camera shake) with a particle effect, or disable it altogether. You can also choose to disable the menu background animation.
I’ve added a filter between the background and the foreground in the menu screen, making the text more easily readable, and hopefully reducing peoples’ headaches.
Changed the credits scene, where I had been giving credit for an unused song instead of the main menu theme. Oops.
Decreased enemy base top speed by 9% (base minimum speed and scaling stay the same)
Decreased coin fall speed by 10%
The game over screen now has keyboard shortcuts, which are disabled while submitting score.
When submitting a highscore, the entered name will stay along with a text letting you know that your score has been submitted.
The game over screen will now keep your final multiplier, including the clock.
And finally, a major gameplay change, coins have been changed to no longer provide an instant 6s timer deduction. Instead, they will temporarily double the clock countdown speed. This lasts for 5 seconds initially, but scales with your multiplier, matching the old version at 5x and surpassing it past that point.
While I believe this coin change is more interesting and should make the game more fluid, it’s technically an unneeded nerf, so I’ve increased the score value of coins by 25%.
