Hello!
Regarding the game it may be finished in about 2-3 years. I cannot explain why exactly but it will take time and I will develop and make a demo meanwhile but it also may not come out at all. My highest priority is to make the game as great as can be without getting sidetracked. Hopefully people will join this project but for now it is just me. I wish to make you have fun and an entertaining time with the game.
I was planning on making the game based on DOOM (2016) but I decided to make it eternal since it has way more to offer. Also I'm still not sure about the whole plot of the games. So for the Codexs's I will just be remaking them so the story doesn't change.
Speaking of story the cut scenes will be full in the game. It might be a little less epic since it will be 2d and I cannot make 3d cut scenes. I'm still figuring stuff out about the gameplay and if it will be difficult. For how the game is going to be played I see a lot of bugs and issues regarding the difficulty. It may be easy so I might pick it up and make it really difficult. (ps: I'm going to try to make the marauder difficult haha)
The pacing should be fine and I might make some levels really longer than the original or shorter. I will be holding every level from the original game and will be adding more. They will be optional and will give you rewards for completing them.
As far as the DLC tag and tag2 will not be apart of the base game. It might maybe be included later on but I haven't gotten to them yet. Also as far as inspiration goes the game is inspired by DOOM Eternal, DOOM 2016, DOOM 2, DOOM, Karlson, Super Mario 63, and Hell is Other Demons. These games have their equal inspiration and have their different reasons they are inspired.
The DOOM Games are pretty obvious but Karlson is another example that might not make sense. If you don't know Karlson it is a 2d game about shooting foes with your mouse and beating the level quickly. I took the aiming idea from that game and decided to use that idea for the game. Mario 63 was mainly used as inspiration for the platforming of the game. The way it used it made it feel very difficult for even 2D. Last but not least I started Hell is other Demons as a regular game and was suprised with the quality. I loved the game and has inspired a bit of the movemeny. Also the game shows the right difficulty for my game and hope to see more inspirations.
