Short Summary: The hard drive which contains project files for Creepypasta Land Reimagined and mods of mine had crashed on me last Friday.
I had sent in the affected hard drive to a data recovery service to investigate the issues of the drive and to learn, how much could be restored.
This is the current status:
The data recovery technician reached out to me and prognosed that 50 - 100 % of data could be restored from the affected hard drive and readable in applications. I however don't know if the project files for CL1 fall under that category. I ordered an extended diagnosis so that I will receive a report, what exactly could be restored from said drive.
The damage of the hard drive is worse than I had predicted. From what I have read, the surface of the inner disk has been damaged and has to be repaired with advanced technologies if I read that correctly. The reading head(whatever you call it) was hitting on the surface while it was clicking and it left it's...marks on it.
I can't tell right now if the project files as well as other important files (including the mod projects) are restorable at this time. That's why I ordered the extended diagnosis.
This will take some days (approximately 7-10) before I get the report. After that I will have to decide if I want to restore the drive since the price for it is pretty high for my standards.
At this point I may be willing to sacrifice a part of my wallet to save the data but first I will wait until the analysis report to determine if it's worth it.
The data on this hard drive was created approximately 4-5 years ago if you look aside my project files that is, these are few years younger than that. It would be a shame to lose the important stuff since I know that the data can be restored to either a half or with luck perhaps even fully.
I will keep you updated once I have news about this matter. Thank you for the support up to this point. It is much appreciated.
