Update on Game Development & Apology Letter

Hello everyone! It’s me, Keebler, the sole developer of Five Nights at Red Island. I’d like to start by saying that I’m sorry for posting this so late, but I have a few important things that need to be said about this game and to the people still following this project.

Some of those followers have been wondering: is this fan-game cancelled? And the answer is no, it’s just been very hard to make good progress. I am a student, and in focusing on my schoolwork I admit that in the past, I’ve sort of neglected this game and haven’t given it my 100%. I can’t give up on this game, though; this game WILL release, and it won’t be left unfinished.

While I want to release this game as soon as possible, I also don’t want to rush out a bad game. In the famous words of Satoru Iwata, “a delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad.” Of course, that doesn’t ring true for all games, but I’m positive it rings true for mine. Despite the fact that I didn’t finish the game anywhere near the time I expected to (January 2016), if I just go ahead and release the game tomorrow, it’ll play just like any other poor-quality fan-game. The game is not polished or fully developed yet, due in large part to my neglect.

I want to give you, the reader, my sincerest apologies. You’ve been waiting forever for this game, and now the creator makes an update that the game still isn’t out yet and that it’s not coming out for a while. Look, I get it. I’m a game fan too! But all games take time to develop, and this one maybe a little more than average. If you’re a real fan, you’ll stick around to see this game through to its final release and enjoy all that it’ll have to offer.

Before the end of March, I will work diligently to push out a trailer of the game. Following that, you can expect a 2-night demo by May 1st. As a developer of a game that’s taken very long to finish, it’s important to set deadlines, and these are some deadlines that I can’t—I won’t—miss.

Thank you for reading.

~Keebler

We made a lot of improvements on the Freezing Plains visual. Things like pine trees, tiny bushes, some rocks, and others game props!

I was bored, so... ManutKat.

In the quest for accessibility, I'm adding Resurrection Shrines for players on the 'novice' end of the platforming spectrum.

In order to unlock the power of a Shrine, you must collect 3 'Souls' from your dead corpses! (the floating blue orbs)

Hi everyone! I started to create some environment props for my new video game, here is a cozy house in the forest. I'm planning to switch from Unity to Unreal... Let's see what new challenges I have to face. Made in Blender and Substance Painter.

I worked so hard to get all four of them to the end safely, but then...

We're knee deep in multiple large features and "game feel". Quick peek behind the scenes in this weeks Dev Blog: https://bit.ly/2QmmaQM

It's now possible to destroy some of the obstacles and gain access to new locations or create shortcuts. #gamedev #indiegame #rpg

Added an exit portal to the maze SRP project. It has a simple effect using scrolling UV's and particles.
