Game
The Gatekeeper

Update on the current state of the game.

Thank you to all who played the gameplay demo of The Gatekeeper! As development continues once again, I would like to announce what you should expect to see in the actual demo when it eventually releases.

Attached image is a concept design for CAMERA THREE.

The first and probably most important thing to mention is the amount of nights and the extent of the demo's content.

The demo will include three nights, and each the post-night minigames, including fully-voiced animatic cutscenes in between the nights and the minigames. This means that there will be FOUR ghosts in the demo.

In addition to this, all the art from the gameplay demo will be remade, and the sound design will be greatly improved. Just like in the gameplay demo, each character will have a fully animated jump scare animation, complete with death screen lines. Unlike the gameplay demo however, there will be a custom night menu. While this will be unfinished at the time of the demo's release, three of the four characters featured in this demo will be fully functional in the custom night.

What are you working on right now?

At the moment, we are currently working on remaking all the UI and background assets. Occasionally we work on voice lines, scripting, or sound design, but we're still taking our time and making sure that everything looks right before we jump right back in.

What still needs to be done?

In short: everything.
The original file for Unity that I had for the game is now gone. This was already accounted for, as I knew this was inevitable due to the circumstances of its development. This is why all the code was recorded and stored ahead of time, so that I still had it when the time came. This means that I have to rebuild The Gatekeeper from the ground up. I'm honestly thankful that this was the case, as the coding for the gameplay demo would have been a pain in the ass to try and incorporate other characters into.

When can we expect the demo to release?

Ha ha, very funny. You can wait. I'll be fairly active, making sure that I respond to any questions you all may have during development, but this is a question that I don't want to answer, especially in case we can't make that date. I'm not even giving an estimate. It was possible for the Gameplay demo, but for the actual demo, it's not. You will get notified at most a month in advance when the demo is ready. Be patient.

Are you hiring?

No.

I hope that answers at least a few of your questions for now. We're working at our own pace to ensure this game is as good as possible without burning ourselves out. This project is meant to be fun for everyone involved. If we need to pick away at it little bits at a time, we'll do that. It doesn't matter if it takes one year, two years, or even five years. This game will eventually be done. When that day comes, I hope you all are still here to see what The Gatekeeper has become!

Thank you for all your support,

- Freak

This house doesn't feel like home anymore

I'm too useless to return to playing such a harmful role again

FINALLY I FINISHED TAMARI, JUST BEFORE APRIL. YES.

As you wish. Here are the designs for Camera 5 and Camera 12. Any guesses as to what their purpose is?

Where might this be from, I wonder?

Guess who?
