v0.4.2 Released - Post-Jam Patches

This patch does not add any new story content and instead focuses on fixing the many, many bugs that were present in the Jam build. If you have already played Rabbiteye Motel, there’s no need to play this build.

The next update will (hopefully) contain the rest of the game. This may be some time.

In This Build:

  • Added LOTS of synonyms for common verbs (e.g.: you can now “use” doors instead of “open”ing them)

  • Entering a blank string of text no longer advances time, or causes other people to interrupt you

  • The wardrobe in Ingrid’s bedroom and the bathroom medical cabinet can now be opened, though both are empty (for now)

  • Removed the invisible alarm clock from Ingrid’s bedroom

  • Phone calls can now be ended early by typing “hang up” or saying goodbye

  • Bee can tell people to “fuck off” if she feels so inclined, though this may have consequences later down the line

  • Replaced the caller’s phone portrait with a solid black placeholder

  • Caller now responds to more questions and has unique dialog depending on whether or not you tell them your name

  • Bee’s phone portrait is now a proper triangle and changes with dialog

  • The amount of soda in the minifridge is now finite

  • Fixed some weird text formatting in certain descriptions

  • Actually put the right version number in enclosed documentation for once

  • Typing “Help” now displays a list of basic commands

Known Issues:

  • Phone ringing message may occasionally overwrite action captions or appear twice in a row

  • As always, some verbs may not be recognized across all objects. Let me know if you run into any trouble!
