V0.4 New Character in Battle and Small Changes


So its been a bit longer than I had planned between updates. Some of the stuff I'm working on behind the scenes isn't ready to be shown yet, but to prevent an extraordinary gap between updates I did work on a few smaller things so I can show some kind of progress.

First of all we have a third character that can join the party in battle. To recruit Knifehead, just head out of town and follow the main path. About halfway along you should see him standing near a tree. Talk to him and he joins. I wanted to check and make sure all the menus and UI elements work properly when the party size changes, and it seems like everything still works properly after he joins.

This character is unique in that his ability "Knife Drop" is able to delay an enemy's next turn, and you can clearly see how effective it is by watching the target's UI after using the skill. Not all enemies are equally susceptible to delay. As of right now only this character can delay, but that may change in later versions.

Another change is that winning battles gets you experience, you can level up when you get experience, and your stats increase when you level up. Pretty basic stuff for an RPG but absent until this version. Another basic feature that has been added is that there is now a submenu allowing you to view all skills that your characters know outside of battle. Another really basic element that has just been added in.

That's pretty much all for now, but I expect to have the save system, and the beginnings of the main quest in the next update, along with at least one new area that I have been building some assets for.

Hi everyone! I started to create some environment props for my new video game, here is a cozy house in the forest. I'm planning to switch from Unity to Unreal... Let's see what new challenges I have to face. Made in Blender and Substance Painter.
