v1.1 Changelog

Hi everyone!

I updated Doba Chaser to v1.1 last night. For those of you who love these things, here is a (not necessarily complete) changelog:

  • stopping friction increased for the player - miniscule, but it makes controlling a touch easier and makes you slide less when you get hit

  • shockwave from kicking added to startup and impact of kick at all charge levels. previously, these extra hitboxes only occurred when you charged your kick completely. Now they happen all the time. This should make finding certain secrets (???) a little easier

  • super (flashing) enemies will be less aggressive if you have not increased the difficulty level at all

  • number of bugs in levels reduced

  • kicking a bug restores your ability to kick in the air, rather than sending you to a helpless state

  • short period (about 30 frames) of invincibility added after hitting an enemy or bug, via stomping or kicking. This allows you to kick into a crowd without fear of getting knocked back by some cherry picker.

  • levels should align tiles correctly. This causes a short loading time in the html5 version, but not more than a few seconds. I need to look deeper into this, though, because it is preventing me from loading larger levels into the html5 version

  • a few new levels, featuring new enemies, have been included in the level rotation. Let me know what you think of the larger levels!

-The tutorial levels have been increased in size, giving the player a little more room to play before their first fight. Also, a midway flag has been added to prevent players from having to repeat the 1st level over and over

  • new level hazards have been added, which can be seen in the new levels.

  • a few other odds and ends, some that I won’t disclose due to spoilers :)

Let me know what you think! Thanks!

In the quest for accessibility, I'm adding Resurrection Shrines for players on the 'novice' end of the platforming spectrum.

In order to unlock the power of a Shrine, you must collect 3 'Souls' from your dead corpses! (the floating blue orbs)

Let me introduce you to the new Mech line: Gendai Spec. Those are Mech that specializes in surprise attacks, covered operations, and stealth. They are equipped with melee weapons but one of Gendai's frames supports sniper rifles.
