Pulling random stock images and plopping in my characters is unusually... intriguing.
Anyways:
After a day of writing voicelines and surviving several existential crises with the algorithms final exam (because writing code on a piece of paper sucks), it’s finally time… the official voice acting casting call for CDH2R is here!
As always, I’m keeping a few things under wraps until the right person lands the role, so not every character name or detail will be fully revealed. But don’t worry, you’ll get all the info you need once I trust you with it.
Important Notes:
Audio format: WAV or MP3 preferred
File naming:
CharacterName_YourUsername.wavDeadline: Please submit your audition by March 2nd, 2026
(You can send it to me by sending me a friend request here (make sure to ping me first); or make a voice video post using the hashtag #cdh2rvoice)
"Tape" Calls (Male VA needed; taken by nobody):
Pretend you’re J. Jonah Jameson from Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man. Fast-talking, exasperated, dramatic… and very opinionated. That’s it. Don’t overthink it, just have fun.
Dummy line: “Your flashlight dies faster than a wet firecracker, but do I look like I care?!”
Vocal tone: Medium pitch
Random male character (Male VA needed; taken by @WitheredBonnieINC
):Just your natural voice, that's it really.
Dummy line: “Pull this off, and I'll buy you coffee later!”
Vocal tone: Medium-high pitch
Characters:
N. Cube (Male VA needed; taken by nobody):
Voiceline: “This isn’t about punishment. It’s about keeping things from getting worse.”
Summary: Kind-hearted but firm protector. Emotionally intelligent, gives chances, acts out of responsibility rather than anger. Feels disappointment rather than rage, making actions heavy and tragic.
In short: Kind first, strong when necessary, hurt by having to act.
Vocal tone: low, gruff; think kellen goff
N. Spidor (Male VA needed; taken by nobody):
Voiceline: “You’re not just a problem… you’re the worst-case scenario come to life.”
Summary: Cold, harsh, and observant. Speaks truth with zero empathy, exposes flaws, and notices hidden truths. Calculated and precise in cruelty, never overreacts.
In short: Calculated, biting, relentless; a silent judge who mocks and highlights failures.
Vocal tone: low-medium pitch; think heimdall from god of war ragnarok
Eclipse (Female VA needed; taken by nobody):
Voiceline: “…I’m supposed to be strong… why do I feel like I’m falling apart..?”
Summary: Fragile, self-doubting character hiding behind a confident facade. Emotionally volatile, clings to fleeting hope, constantly questions herself. Observant, sensitive, fundamentally compassionate.
In short: Outwardly confident, inwardly uncertain; defined by vulnerability and self-questioning.
Vocal tone: medium-high pitch
Anty (Male VA needed; taken by nobody):
Voiceline: “I just want everyone to be safe... including you, somehow.”
Summary: Steady confidence, cautious curiosity, and protective heart. Witty, slightly irritable when provoked, but actions stem from care and responsibility. Engaged and observant.
In short: Protective, witty, curious; reliable and caring figure.
Vocal tone: medium pitch
Withered Cube (mainly taken by me, but if you want to, you can give it a shot):
Voiceline: "I mean, I’ll give you points for effort… don’t expect me to applaud though."
Summary: Curious and stubborn, mildly grumpy after losing an arm and dealing with sensitive eyesight. Observant, protective, engages with surroundings, treats trespassing seriously but can have fun. Adapts to change.
In short: Curious, stubborn, mildly grumpy, protective; enforces rules while enjoying challenges.
Vocal tone: medium
'Misfit' character 1 (Male VA needed; taken by @SepsisCatProd
):Voiceline: “Don’t get back up.”
Summary: Gruff, monotone, serious, unforgiving. Speaks little, uses brute force when patience ends. Shows little concern for others, tolerates very few.
In short: Gruff, aggressive, uncompromising; silent enforcer with no patience for intruders.
Vocal tone: low, gruff
Amalgamate (Any VA will do, I'll be distorting the voice either way; taken by nobody):
Voiceline: “Absence makes the heart grow fonder.”
Summary: Fractured, conflicted fusion of Blitz and Dusk. Struggles to reconcile two minds, introspective and regretful. Haunted by absence of sister figure. Broken voice, fractured thoughts, heavy grief.
In short: Haunted, introspective, conflicted; torn between identities, longing unfulfilled.
Vocal tone: medium-high pitch
The Shadow (Ditto to Withered Cube; mainly taken by me, if you want to, you can give it a shot):
Voiceline: “I’ll remember this… mostly because it was so charmingly terrible.”
Summary: Playful, theatrical, subtly sinister. Observes and comments with amusement and malice. Teases, taunts, tests intruders mainly in indirect ways. Danger wrapped in charm and wit.
In short: Mischievous, dramatic, calculating; theatrical trickster relishing others’ missteps.
Vocal tone: medium; think monster from friday night funkin
That’s everything… for now :p
If you’re interested, grab a mic, pick a character and their line, and throw your voice into my DMs (make sure to ping me first), or post a voice video under the hashtag #cdh2rvoice. Don’t worry about perfection, chaos and weirdness are highly encouraged. Just have fun with your imagination.
Show me something cool, or creepy, or completely unhinged. Bonus points if it makes me say “this is funny".
Thanks for sticking around. Let’s make Cube’s Dark Hours 2 Reshined the sequel it was always meant to be, with love and care infused in every corner (and not something like the original CDH2, which was rushed because of anxiety about expectations).
I'll go start writing the "Tape" Calls scripts... well, not immediately, but very soon enough. As for exactly right now, well, I'll go play FNaSR The Opening Week :p
Take care, stay safe, and, as always, God bless!
