What if religion is a mask? A mask as in, something to hide the true face of what it really feels like to experience fear. A fear for what lies after. Is there something beyond life? Is it truly an infinite darkness which surely results in the definite non-existence of your conscience being? That's why religion must be a mask. To safely carry you into nothingness, calmly. Nobody wants to freak out on their deathbed, they want to go peacefully. So, therefore religion steps in. To give you a worry-free deliverance into the void, or, the after life, if there is one. Food for thought :)
