In this Devlog, we will be answering most of your questions and showing off what we've been upto in the time that we've taken a break.
Why did you take such a long break?
For awhile, I lost huge amounts of motivation for this project unfortunately, I passed things off to the other owner EeEe but progress still dwindled and I was dealing with personal issues myself at the time so I was tempted to cancel this game all together... But! fret not dear reader! after speaking to a few of my close friends and dealing with my issues I found the motivation I needed to start working on this project again.
Will progress continue as it did before?
Unfortunately no. Unlike before, updates will be coming out once or twice every few weeks instead of every few days, this is because as our progress continues onwards we are etching closer and closer to a working DEMO and I don't want to be spoiling everything.
Now onto the next segment... How does our current game look? Below are teasers and showcases of our new and updated tileset, courtesy of me, Iconic!
RUINS

Another thing in regards to the RUINS progress is that we officially have new BORDERS courtesy of Pepper! Below are a few renditions of how they look in-game!

Now some of you might be asking why we've changed the tileset. And to answer that to be honest, I’m not a big fan of how most dusttale takes overly desaturate their tilesets, I get that most takes try to make everything feel gloomy and edgy, but in my opinion that tone shouldn’t affect the room design, especially the use of colour which is why I’m keeping the ruins more playful and colourful, closer to the original game.
It's not because I want to soften the story, but because if everything is gloomy from the start, there’s no sense of surprise or contrast later on. This makes certain parts of the game hit like a TRUCK when they arrive, also this is due to the fact that over the months that I've been unmotivated on DUSTSTORM, I've gotten better at tileset work and I feel that this will make the game feel much nicer rather than what we were using beforehand.
RUINS ENCOUNTER
Now possibly one of the more anticipated area's of the game that a lot of people are probably curious about is the first Sans encounter.
Not much has changed but I've gone through the liberty of updating sans' and toriel's battle sprites in the updated fight, I won't be showcasing them but I will be showing how the new fight will look (almost identical other than updated sprites)

You may be wondering why the battle sprite is covered up, we have decided it'd be best to keep our new sprites in the dark until the DEMO releases as to keep suspense, until then you'll be stuck with shadow sans and shadow toriel!
And as a reminder, nothing that's here is fully finalised and assets may change in the future.
I'd like to thank everyone for their continued support to this project and I'm excited to work on it again, I bid you adieu and keep watch for new posts!
