Weekly Update #1
Welcome to the first weekly update for Halo: Downfall! Every Tuesday, we will post a weekly update talking about development on the game and give you all insight on how the development is going.
Core Mechanics
We’ve started to work on tuning the core mechanics down to feel more like Halo 3: ODST. We want the player to feel more human and not like a super soldier. We are planning on achieving this by not allowing players to jump as high as Spartans and move slower than Spartans.
Gun play is a key factor in how a halo game feels and we’re trying to emulate this in Downfall. The game will include a mix of hit scan and projectile based shooting, but the recoil will feel more realistic. This is just our way of making a game with our touch on it.
Weapons
Currently we only have two weapons in game and finished. The AR and the Magnum. We are working on adding the BR this week along with the SMG. We plan on adding more original weapons.
Vehicles
This past week, we worked on adding the warthog into the game, but couldn’t get it to feel right. Development on it will continue into this week. We plan on having more vehicles than any official Halo game.
Multiplayer and Modes
We’ve been experimenting with different modes on Multiplayer and currently have gotten Slayer to work fine this week. Our next objective is to work on adding Capture The Flag.
