Better Brawl has been a small side-project I've been working on to learn modding for Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I've been a big Smash fan for a long time, and have played every game in the series to some extent. Brawl has been a game I've primarily experienced through mods like Project+ and REX, and playing the vanilla game made me feel disappointed.
Brawl just feels clunky and makes for an awful casual, and especially competitive, experience. Brawl suffers from trying too hard to cater to casual players, and it fails at even that due to its slow nature.
Better Brawl is a midground between Melee and Brawl that speeds up the game and allows it to have a fast combo game, while still keeping the game at its core Brawl. Tech like wavedashing and l-canceling does not return, but the buffer is lowered and hitstun has been increased.
I plan for Better Brawl to be in a playable state within the coming months. I know this is a bit different from everything else I've done, but I think it's important to always experiment and try new things.
