Welcome to the YAIAM Devlog!
Now, a game on Gamejolt that uses the devlog feature had always seemed a bit strange to me, but the more I thought about it, the more fun I thought it would be!
Normally, my partner Jerome and I work in absolute secrecy, only giving out occasional details, and hope the intrigue would get people interested in the game. Well, I thought it would be a cool thing to try to break that unspoken rule. What if I tried to keep people updated about everything I do with it, instead? How might that fare differently? Call it an experiment. If this works out well, I’ll try it again with the next game. If not… well, I’ll still do this occasionally, because I like writing updates, and the more frequent the updates are, the more I get to write, right? Right.
So, here we are at the YAIAM (rhymes with eye yam) Gamejolt page, with the YAIAM devlog. At current time of writing, the engine is almost entirely complete, and with it, the first of nine story mazes (I’ve been using the first maze to test the engine). The only thing holding the first maze back from being complete is a singular enemy type (one of three) not being complete yet, the boss, and some polish. Were I at the computer this was being worked on right now, I would show you some pictures of the last enemy, but alas, I am not, and will not be until the 26th. Which means that more production of the game will not occur until the 26th. When I get there though, I’ll be working, don’t worry!
