How to differentiate the two Touhou Ayas
If you are not sure how to differentiate the two Ayas just by saying "Aya" alone, please follow these guidelines for how to differentiate the two characters:
Obviously, their appearances are different: Tengu Aya (Aya Shameimaru) have a tokin hat, while that Exorcist Aya (Aya Usami) have a headband. Note that Aya Usami's appearance is based upon that of her cousin Sumireko, therefore the two Ayas never share any relation in appearance.
Their roles are different: One Aya (Tengu Aya) being a reporter, while that the other (Exorcist Aya) is an exorcist. Honestly, a reporter will hardly ever have any common with an exorcist, and it's hard to found a case of a reporter have an article about an exorcist.
The way of writing their names are different: In the first Aya's case, it is 文, while that the second Aya, it is 紋 (normally read "mon") (Don't matter the same 文 in both kanji, they are coincidences). The first Aya's name might be a reference to her role as a reporter, while that the second Aya's name is a reference to the usage of the image of crosses as a Christian symbol (hence the kanji for "crest" used as her name and on her clothing there are crosses).
So what do you think? Are these explanation sufficient for differentiating the two Ayas? If you note more differences between the two Ayas, please notify me by leaving a comment below and please like my post!
