What is Tetromp?

I should explain what this game is.

Tetormp was one of my earliest games. I made an addictive little game with a simple account system and online leaderboards. It was my first game to support saving data to the cloud which meant you could play Tetromp anywhere with your own custom character.
Me and my friends, for a while, lived for our mini tournaments on the game. We were constantly fighting for the top spot on the leaderboard.
Now the game is outdated and no longer connects to the server- crashing on start-up. Even if I could get it to work again, I know I could do so much better. The old gameplay could do with significant improvements and the old servers had a whole host of issues.
So, I’m bringing Tetromp back! A whole new engine! And it will support Gamejolt accounts instead of running my own security nightmare servers.

I’d also like to address the earlier gif.

The gameplay has been updated with some much-needed ‘parkour’ elements, as you’ll notice. The colour changing now uses a nice fade cycle rather than the popping the old game had which used to mess with your eyes. I also added a nice outline to the blocks.
In the gif, there is a grid pattern. This is only so I could see individual block positions with ease for debug purposes.
Also, my laptop is dying a slow death- the game runs smoother than my laptop would make it seem. And for those of you thinking “even a low-end laptop would handle a game like this just fine”- yeah, you’re right. I’ll put things into perspective for you… even typing this devlog, my laptop is struggling to keep up. I type a word and it appears all full three seconds later in some cases.

Maybe this game (although being released for free) can pay for a new laptop. I doubt that but it’s a nice thought.

Been working lately on lots of 'behind-the-scenes' boring stuff that no one really cares about, so here’s a guy playing the sax for some reason.

In the quest for accessibility, I'm adding Resurrection Shrines for players on the 'novice' end of the platforming spectrum.

In order to unlock the power of a Shrine, you must collect 3 'Souls' from your dead corpses! (the floating blue orbs)

a drawing I did because I was bored😪. But I love how it turned out.😊

I worked so hard to get all four of them to the end safely, but then...
