Hey all, Anthono220 here. Where have all the news gone lately? :)
Don’t worry, there will be new information on the game soon, including things such as new music and a demo. Let’s talk about them
Music, new and old
To be honest, I don’t wanna post music tracks to YouTube unless the track is pretty much completed. Awaken Into The Fields as you hear it is pretty much the final version that will be in the final game. That song was first created many, MANY months ago (at the time of this post) if it isn’t already a year old at this point.
Okay, a talk about the track itself: So, I made a song back in the day that was cool and all, but I wasn’t happy with it, so I started over. Inspired by calm music, I created a version that resembles that of today’s version, but it was VERY different. The 9-note piano pattern that starts the song was taken from another song I worked on (it‘s called “Pillars”, which you can listen to on YouTube right now and hear the similarity) but with more notes added.
Also, the heartbeat-like drums is supposed to symbolize the theme of “birth into a new world” in this song as it’s, well, like a heartbeat. However, I did not actually come up with the main drumline. It comes straight from a song called “Opus No. 1”, which you may know as the default Cisco hold music.
The song is calm unlike the others because it represents being “born” into a new world; a new adventure. Perhaps it would welcome new players and calm them down before things got more serious and action-packed later on.
To be honest, I wasn’t expecting the song to be this good (in my opinion). I hear it as a song that belongs in some sort of orchestra, especially with all the strings playing all at once. To me, I wouldn’t be surprised if this song becomes one of the most memorable songs to many people. It opens with the same pattern as mentioned before, which I think could be not only easy to remember, but play too. Later in the song, the strings make the song get (probably) overwhelming, but I think it’s a good kind of overwhelming. It’s such a good and beautiful piece, I would have to try *REALLY* hard if I wanted to top it in every aspect.
You can listen to the track and hear for yourself right here:
Demo???
Well, barely anyone asked for one, but I shall answer that question anyways. YES, I HEAR THE NONEXISTENT CRIES, A GOOTER DEMO IS COMING! I am going to release a beta demo without any prior warning, and it’ll probably be out after, like, 1 or 2 devlog posts. I just need to work on it a *little* more before I can put the build up for download. What can I say, I am a guy of quality, even in my beta builds.
Of course, if something in the game is not quality-licious, you can always provide as much feedback as you would like on the game page. You can also say something on my upcoming website, where there will be forums for discussion about all my games, even the bad ones.
I won’t tell you too much about what’s in store in the demo, however what I can say is that you will be able to play the first TWO worlds of the game. That’s about 2/8 (1/4) of the ENTIRE main game, you lucky ducks! :)
I will warn that the demo contains levels that will not be playable in the final game, as I am in the process of redoing the entire second world, and the music is planned to be replaced entirely. All of you unused content enthusiasts will get a kick outta the demo. :)
Progress?
Here’s the cool stuff I got done in the game recently:
Now the game has TWO bosses! Both bosses are very different in terms of how you fight them.
Cutscenes that tell the story! Yipee!
Yeah, that’s literally it. I gotta pick up the pace some time.
Finally, here is my general to-do list for the next time I work on Gooter.
Redoing the second world. (The boss level in this world stays as it is though)
Work on more levels for new unshown worlds! These worlds consist of magic mushrooms, waterfalls, and Gooter’s version of the evil underworld.
Moar bosses! :D Probably like 1-2 more and then a final boss, but yeah.
Make the game more lively! Sounds, textures, animations, characters, all that.
Secrets???????????
Alongside the main game, I am planning to have fun extra gamemodes. I was thinking of something like an “Infinity Mode”, a mode similar to Sonic Mania’s “Encore Mode”, and even a battle Mode! This isn’t guaranteed though, just some fun ideas to make the game more replayable. These would be worked on after the main game is finished.
