I'll give a quick rundown for those who don't know, Gamejolt last Thursday (5/22/2025) released an update where a person can use Joltbux to promote or feature their posts, profiles, and games, this was done to level the playing field between those who have GJ Creator and those who don't, by paying for that promotion. Before that change, they had a feature that automatically promoted posts, profiles, and games.

When the feature to be able to use Joltbux to promote yourself was added, this automatic feature was accidentally removed, so some profiles of big developers disappeared from the featured board, and some users reported this to their networks, of course this was a misunderstanding and a management error, but the problem started when, before explaining the situation, posts from those creators began to be deleted due to misinformation, and in the process, many had their GameJolt Creator badge removed, a dubious technique that broke the trust of many users (I don't know what the terms and conditions are when you get the creator badge, but the fact that it has been several times generated distrust)

Right now many creators are moving their games to itch.io, some will have their reasons, others for fear of losing their accounts or their progress due to the actions that Game Jolt is taking lately, but in general because of the great distrust that this generated among users, because trust can be lost very easily and especially when these events occur, many want to avoid possible sanctions, either commenting on GJ's recent role with the use of Joltbux or saying that GJ is silencing many.

Now, because of this situation, which I woke up to this morning, I'm worried about the future of Gamejolt and the decline that may be coming, affecting many who worked hard to have their talent recognized, only to be forgotten now.

Given this potential situation, I'm considering moving the project to itch.io as a second option very soon. In the meantime, I'd rather wait and see how this all plays out while I build the site.

And for those wondering if the project is still in development, the answer is yes, I'm still working on it quietly, letting my imagination run wild and polishing it whenever necessary, but without trying to perfect it so much, I've just finished redesigning 3 maps definitively and I'm going for the 4th and penultimate one that's missing, of course there are still voice actors missing but first I'm dedicating myself to what I can do and then leaving everything ready for the team's contribution.
