someday…Finally, an update on WWW! The Low Resolution GameJam is almost ending and I had to at least finish WWW’s first level.
Check it out:
At first I was stuck with a collision problem, but in the end it was easier than I thought. Unfortunately, the collision with platforms is kinda buggy; and I suspect it might be a problem with melonJS itself.
Changelog:
Finished cloning the VVVVVV’s first level;
Added Teleporter to end the level;
Different sprites for enemies;
Fixed nasty collision bug;
Added shiny trinkets; not enough time :(
Oh, and today I found out about the game V. It is another low resolution VVVVVV clone, on the same competition as I am. It was made by Jay X Townsend.
It is way better than WWW in some ways (like the soundtrack, wow); I have to admit I became a bit demotivated. After a while I kinda gave up on it.
There are so many features I couldn’t make in time for theGameJam…
An intro like that would be niceFor instance, I wanted to make a nice intro animation, with Captain Viridian morphing into WWW’s main character… I even sent a mail to Terry Cavanagh himself asking about it; after a day or so he replied allowing it, I was so happy!
But now WWW will have to wait. There’s a ton of other projects I started way before it that I need to give my attention now. At the top of my head I recall having a nasty bug with Quickpress and updating nSnake on Debian.Oh, at least I plan to share my experiences with MelonJS by making a series of tutorials on it.
