The gentle rocking of the ship wakes up the girl who was sleeping in the ship's cargo hold. With not even a crumb of memory related to who she is, she adopts the name Jane Doe. Jane along with 15 other people that were on the ship find themselves on a lonely island that houses an empty city. Soon, she learns that the 15 people are here searching for an artifact that is rumored to grant one incredible knowledge, enough to turn them into an Ultimate. But their little treasure hunt is interrupted by an "entity" calling herself "Lumoar: Priestess of the moon"
"Just looking for a dusty old thing isn't fun, so let's raise the stakes. I'll give you 16 days to find the artifact, but only one person can claim it, so first come, first served. And only that person will be allowed to leave the island. If you dilly-dally too much, 16 days pass and you people are still on my island ... let's just say as a priestess I have the authority to arrange 16 funerals"
