Project: Playtime Low PC config
If your game feels like a slideshow (3-5 FPS), follow these 3 simple steps. The game will look pixelated, but it will actually run!
Step 1: Steam Settings (The Easiest Part)
Open your Steam Library.
Right-click on Project: Playtime and select Properties.
Look for the "Launch Options" box at the bottom.
Copy and paste this exact line there:
-lowmed -nomotionblur -nod3d10 -windowed -w 800 -h 600
(This forces the game to run in a small window without heavy effects).
Step 2: Paste the Config Files
You need to replace the game's heavy settings with our "Super Light" version.
On your keyboard, press the Windows Key + R at the same time.
A small box will appear. Copy and paste this path into it and hit OK:
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Playtime_Multiplayer\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor
A folder will open. Drag and drop the two files I gave you (GameUserSettings.ini and Scalability.ini) into this folder.
Click "Replace files in the destination" if it asks.
Step 3: Lock the Files (Very Important!)
The game is smart—it will try to delete our settings and bring back the lag. We must stop it.
Right-click on the file GameUserSettings.ini that you just moved.
Select Properties.
At the bottom, check the box that says "Read-only". Click OK.
Do the exact same thing for the other file: Scalability.ini.
DONE! Now, close your browser (Chrome/Edge), close Discord, and start the game.
What to expect?
The game will look like "Potato mode" (low resolution), but your FPS should jump up significantly. If it's still laggy, make sure your laptop is plugged into the charger!
