"In a distant land, there exists eight powerful mystic artifacts--the Relics of Ascension, each holding dominion over a particular facet of the world. A scarcely-whispered legend says that if all of the Relics were brought together, one could be granted power without peer; absolute dominion over existence.

In these peaceful times, a threat begins to loom over the kingdom of Elowyn, and it falls to a village youth, an ancient spirit, a guard captain, and a spell-slinging mercenary to prevent a cataclysmic catastrophe from destroying all they know and love!"

"Project Sota" (working title) is an #rpg #adventure game, developed using the "RPG Maker MZ" application. In my youth, I was always fascinated by the "RPG Maker" series of programs, attempting multiple times to try and make something substantial. Unfortunately, a lack of planning and direction resulted in those first attempts petering out.

Fast-forward to a few years ago, and after being inspired to create once more, I resolved to finally achieve my goal of making an RPG Maker title, and this time, I would properly plan things out! After a year of initial scripting and design, and a couple years of on-and-off programming, I have finally created a solid demo version of the program for public release!

One thing to note, is that I have imposed a sort-of challenge upon myself when creating this game; I have restricted myself from using plugins (though I have allowed using my own programming knowledge to adjust .js files directly). I wanted to prove to myself (and others) that it's possible to make a respectable game using just the base features available to a developer using the stock RPG Maker MZ program. I hope that you have an enjoyable time with this demo, and look forward to additional versions as development continues!

After over a year, I'm proud to say that a new version of "Project Sota" is finally out! We've added in a new Story Act, adjusted the combat balance a little, and fixed a couple of stray bugs!

Please enjoy, and keep the feedback coming! 🥰

It's been a while since the last update, but I wanted to let y'all know that I've managed to upload a version of the v3.03 demo for both Mac AND Web Browsers, too!

I've noticed the music lags a little bit in the Browser, but I'm fine taking that hit. :)

Hello there, everyone!

I just wanted to give a big "thank you" to everyone who has given the game a look, and doubly-so to everyone who has downloaded it! I hope you have been having an enjoyable time!

If you have any questions, feel free to reach out!
