What do you think?

man for the love of god put it on mobile

Do you take requests because can you add the android port version?

Hello, I just wanted to say that this fangame blew me away! Its extremely high quality! Im only up to Zone 2 right now, but the level design is pretty good so far. The only issue I have is the special stages. I feel like the rings go by too fast for you to properly position yourself to collect them. I feel like you have a low chance of beating it unless you play it a bunch of times so you know where the rings are gonna be. I do have a recommendation though! Maybe you could make the special stages more like the ones in the genesis version of sonic 3D. Are you gonna enter the game into this years SAGE? It could really help your fangame get a lot of attention! Thats pretty much everything I wanted to say. I just have one more queston. Do you have a discord account? Thanks for reading!

Definitely has quite the difficulty curve to it. The Diamond Dust Zone boss is dark souls level hard.

I think this game is great! It does a great job at shifting the more collectathon style of Sonic 3D into a somewhat normal Sonic Game. The level design is good for the most part, but there are a lot of backtracking areas in the levels where the game expects you to repeat a previous section if you fail the platforming. This wouldn't be a problem for me, but pretty much all the levels have this (expect some of the zones past the halfway mark). The special stages are the Sonic 2 ones but faster. On my first playthrough, I though they were unfair, but on my second one, it was pretty fair. My main problem with them isn't the speed... it's the speed. I'm talking about the reaction speed. It's kinda of annoying when the rings are in a 90 degree angle and zoom right past you. You're going to miss a LOT of rings if you don't recognize the patterns. Most of the time, the best option is to jump back and foward between the left and right lanes. A lot of the time, that's where the rings will be. In the later levels, there's a lot of spiral pattern rings, so it isn't that annoying from there. The bosses are... mixed. A lot of them are strange, with weird hitboxes. And I know it's on purpose, but it's strange to fight some of them. Tails Doll is an example with his ruby hitbox. I guess it's cool, but the bumpers make it a really difficult. You wait for him to spin, then time it perfectly to hit him before he disappears. It's cool when you master the fight, but it's not like it wouldn't be since it's kinda memory based. That's the main flaw with this game. It's really hard on your first playthrough, but on your second try, a lot of it is a blitz through. You beat the special stages, and then mow through almost everything. The final boss is pretty cool though. Well, the chaos emerald final boss is cool. The normal final boss is mainly a tank fest because again, strange hitboxes. Disregarding those main problems, this game is pretty good. The bosses are cool and are fun to fight again. The enemies are cool, and this game feels pretty Sonic 3 (& Knuckles). A few more things though, the second final zone (I don't remember the name of it) where you fight all the Metal Sonic's is RNG which I kinda don't like, but I get it. It's pretty cool getting to fight all of the previous Metal Sonic's (Except the last guy, he sucks). I'd like if this game had multiple character saves. If you want to play as the other characters, you have to erase your previous save file, which kinda sucks if I want to play through one of the stages as Sonic, but it's overwrited by my Tails save. I guess I can move my save from the files, but that moves everything. Like the unlocks and achievements. Anyway, this gets a 7.5/10. Of course, I'm just so cool and awesome for writing this prolonged essay on why I like this fanmade Sonic game, but once I read this over, I'll realize whether that's true or not. oh wait im making this longer

Installation Guide

Download and unpack the zip file in a directory of choice. The archive includes xinput1_3.dll ("Microsoft Common Controller API") required for the game to work and detect controllers.

How to install the Saturn DLC

Simply unpack the zip, and drag both the "Saturn" and the "Custom" folders into your Data\Soundtrack\ folder without overwriting the existing music.

How to play on LINUX

Special thanks to mindbender444 for the following guide:

* Wine version: lutris-5.7-x86_64
* DXVK option off. (otherwise would crash immediately after launch)
* Use winetricks to install vcrun6. (otherwise crash after input setup)
* (optional) Set up a separate wineprefix to keep things clean.

The game works in either fullscreen or windowed mode, but it may crash after switching between full and window a few times during gameplay. Left screen with low resolution after crash. Configure -> System options -> Restore resolution on exit in Lutris settings made the original resolution return the next time it crashed. So, just be careful toggling between the screen modes.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Machine independant Speed

Should you face heavy slowdowns in the game, try to run it using the "machine independant speed" option by following these steps:

1 - Make a windows link to the exe of the game
2 - Go into the link properties and add the /MIS1 command in the destination field after the double quotes

it should look something like this:
"C:\BLAH BLAH BLAH\Sonic3D2d 1.08.exe" /MIS1

3 - hit OK and start the game through that link.

Water effect compatibility

As of version 1.08 should you discover that the water in game looks like a large dark wall, try to run the game through a link using the command /LIGHTWATER

Re-Enable Fusion 2.5 OLD Pause System

If you experience slowdowns after the new pause system has been released, try running the game through a link using the command /OLDPAUSE this will re-enable Fusion's un-pause system pre 1.07. You will gain some FPS, but you'll be forced to UNPAUSE the game by pressing ENTER.

All commands listed above can be entered in the same link, separated by space (EG: /MIS1 /OLDPAUSE).

V1.33 was the first version of Sonic 3D in 2D to run on the latest build of Fusion 2.5 (update 9-11-2023). This engine update broke the pathing code badniks in Spring Stadium Zone: Sonic 3D in 2D v1.34 addresses it.

Remeber to update the game!

I know I had a bug to fix in the main menu. It lingered for an eternity, and I never mustered the power to address it.

Well, now it's finally squashed.

Enjoy Sonic 3D in 2D version 1.33!

Hello! You may have noticed that the final battle in Final Fight in version 1.31 has become a bit...underwhelming.
Due to a test I made to fix the cutscene for version 1.32 i may have forgotten to reset Robotnik's health so this small patch addresses it.

Version 1.31 is out! Fixes, new ledge animations, special stage controls improvements and more! Update to the new version of Sonic 3D in 2D now!

Sonic 3D2D 1.30 is out! A fix to the restart command and to a gamebreaking burst animation flashing infinitely for Mecha Knux that made the battle pretty much impossible.

Update now!
