The Return to Freddy's 2: Windows 98 Edition is a remake of TRTF 2 by Juan Reviews. It was released in 2021, but for unknown reasons the page was deleted; in April 2022, a new page appeared with an image "THE FINAL UPDATE. coming this WHEN 3 IS DONE", probably meaning that the game would be available after the release of The Return to Freddy's 3: Windows XP Edition. On December 24th, 2022, MaximumElevapor released an "Anni ver sary Build" of TRTF3XP and wrote that "Juan was locked out of his GameJolt account"[1], and that his page would "host the OFFICIAL RELEASE" of TRTF3XP;[2] after TRTF3XP was released in 2023, MaximumElevapor announced that he would also host the page of TRTF2W98.

Description

Welcome to your new and exciting career! In The Return to Freddy's 2, you are taking the night-shift with Freddy and co. with some new addition. We have just brought in a puppet character with it's own music box to replace the old flimsy gift-giving cat animatronic and an old friend returning with a fresh coat of paint!
As the security guard working nights, your job is to monitor the building and make sure nothing goes wrong after-hours. You are the first guard to work at this location. So to make your job easier, we will provide you with an instructor to guide you through your nights here at Fredbear's!
What could go wrong?

Trivia

  • The developers released a limited run of physical CD copies of the game (see below).

  • The developers posted various jokes about the TRTF community, with one of them being the hashtag "#fartmoonkiisto", referring to Black Moon Studios and its main developer KIIISTO, known for The Return to Freddy's Rebuilt series and for the controversy with the development of the series. People who posted the hashtag often wrote that the remakes by Juan Reviews are better than the "Rebuilt" series.[3] The hashtag (although misspelled as "#fartmoonkiiisto") appears on the page of The Return To Freddy's 3: Bonum Iterum.[4]

  • The bolded letters within the game's Game Jolt decription make out the phrase "I am him"; the same easter egg was featured in the original description of TRTF 1[5].
