What do you think?

I just finished playing this game, coming from playing the first two games last year.

This series as a whole has been fantastic, and Ceasing to Be Her Demise makes for an incredibly climactic conclusion. It has a few quirks - the ordering on a couple of puzzles is very specific, and the can occasionally have a few problems - but the overall quality of the game, story, and art show how much careful attention was put into this game.

The game itself is a pretty standard point and click adventure, but it isn't afraid to broach complex topics such as depression and abuse of authority. While this particular entry doesn't delve too much into the specifics, we see the resolution and consequences of issues that came up in previous games. In order to really understand what is going on, I highly recommend playing the first two games. All three games together probably take somewhere around 3-5 hours depending on how fast you are at solving some of the puzzles.

Those puzzles are at the heart of any point and click adventure. Sometimes the order of events on these puzzles can seem a bit too specific, and I think this stems from the lack of "item combination" from within your inventory - you can only use items from your inventory on objects in the world. Normally this would be fine, but some of the objects you cannot collect but you can interact with are "added" to your inventory in the form of a thought bubble / memo. I am really torn about this mechanic, as it serves as a great reminder that I need to do something with the item, but it was unclear whether I was meant to pick this item up eventually (like the skull) or interact with it eventually (like the branch). I think that after refining this mechanic a bit more it can be a powerful tool for point and click adventures, but it might require more specific uses or in-game explanation.

One specific aspect of this game (as its own title) that I would like to commend is the introduction. Before bombarding the player with any obviously story related information, even before showing the player the title, the player is required to show they understand how the point/click/drag mechanics of the inventory work. A character offers an item and the player has to accept it. That item is given to another character in trade for another item that then must be used on the environment. Nearly every mechanical aspect of the game is covered in this pre-game dream sequence without explicitly stating any of the controls - a great tutorial. The only way it might have been improved is if it somehow explained the inventory memo system.

Great game well done!

it keeps freezing at the part with the soldier's dagger!!

I loved the first two, but I can't finish this one! I'm not stuck, it just keeps freezing if I've been playing for more than a couple minutes. The second game did the same, maybe it has to do with the Unity engine? I don't know... Makes me sad though ;~;

this game was awesome. the whole series is one of my favorites
