DELTARUNE CHAPTER 5 - SECRET BOSS ENCOUNTER

This is a fanmade fight for a theoretical secret boss for chapter 5, which takes place in Hometown's graveyard after Rudolph Holiday dies due to his illness.

This fight introduces the two new soul modes, Cyan and Orange. While your soul is either color, pressing "Z" will switch both it, and all colored attacks, to the opposite color. For instance, pressing Z while the soul is Orange will change it blue, and change all orange attacks blue, and all blue attacks orange.

VERY IMPORTANT

This fight is difficult! Don't assume that no playtesting went into this, because believe me, a lot did. However, this fight is intended to be a late game secret boss, and because of this, it's fairly hard. The intent was to create a boss fight which was challenging, much like Jevil.

The main reason that this fight is so difficult is due to the fact that it introduces a new soul mode which changes the way you must look at attacks. However, after some time I realized that while the extreme difficulty is intended, this is still a stand alone fight meant for people to play and enjoy. Because of this, I decided to make it easier then I would have otherwise. In addition, upon dying, you will be shown a random hint which may make the fight easier. On top of that, I can give some very important tips about using the soul mode which should additionaly make the fight much easier.

  1. Try not to be standing still. Standing still during the fight is very precarious, as many attacks are very complicated and involve many moving parts. The strategy of standing still and turning attacks blue will rarely work. Instead, constantly moving in small circles will help to keep you ready for any attacks that come your way, and allow you the ability to quickly turn blue attacks orange as they approach.

  2. ALWAYS prioritize turning attacks orange. Orange attacks are almost always easier to dodge, because of this, turning attacks orange will give you a much greater range of options if you need to think quickly in order to dodge something. However, do note, there are some attacks where turning attacks blue is useful, or even required.

  3. Focus on more then just the soul. The key thing here is that many attacks are very complicated and involve many moving parts. For such attacks, the usual method of looking at the soul and dodging attacks as they come near WILL NOT WORK. For this fight you will need to learn to focus less on the soul specifically, and more on the entire battle box. This will alow you to react quicker to attacks as they come close to the soul.

Other then that, the fight is just in general pretty hard. Make sure to use items appropriately, try out all acts and unique spells (they're pretty useful!), and learn from your mistakes.

Oh, one more thing, the "intro" for the fight includes important background lore and information + a mini tutorial for the soul mode, so don't skip it when you first play the fight! Do note that a majority of the intro is just simple dialogue on a black screen. This is NOT indicitive of the overall quality of the fight or anything, I just didn't see the point of spending a ton of time making tilesets and designs for characters and areas which appeared for less then a minute. Maybe at some point I'll go back and add that. Probably not though.

I put WAY too much time into this, so play it, or else I'll have Toby Fox never release the actual game.

Oh, also, I've literally never coded before, so if you encounter any bugs, which I'm sure there are, lmk.

Oh, also have fun or whatever.
