Hey, I remember playing this a long time ago during an LD! Cool to see that it's still being worked on :)
I just played the alpha version for a bit, and was impressed with the overall polish, including a whole guided tutorial. However, one thing immediately jumped out at me as a problem. The tutorial spends a significant amount of time explaining the elemental mechanics, but as soon as I started the first level I got bombarded by a mob of randomly colored enemies. Due to how they move and how your attack works, every swing of the axe is going to hit a big chunk of them at once, so there's really no point in caring about the elemental since you're never going to get it "right" even if you try.
Maybe it'd work better if the AI were a little more intentional with its movements so that player has an opportunity to exploit the elemental factor. E.g. maybe like-colored enemies group together, or if too many enemies are "aggro-ing" the player, the rest of them stay back, and they have a higher chance of approaching if they match the colors of those already near the player....etc
Brevity is the soul of wit. I am impressed!!!
It has not been Greg’s day.
His boss at Death Inc. has found out about his lousy performance as
Junior Executive Grim Reaper and is not amused, to say the least!
Can you help the little Grim Reaper out with 15 supervised shifts in
this fast-paced Arena Hack & Slash game where you have to reap souls
as best as you can?!
This game is a work in progress! So far we've reworked the prototype that was done for he 52th Ludum Dare gamejam and added a bunch of new content, features and bugfixes! Currently we present to you our newest alpha build, where you not only can be a grim reaper to your hearts content but also help Chris with his Master thesis by playing and clicking the Feedback button inside the Menu! :]
Thank you for playing! <3
