Cool copy of the original Defender from the 80s . looks exactly like the original Defender except you cant scroll the opposite way... Its still really cool though! I agree with Hizor, that he wants to have a ship selection.

I finally had the time to actually play it, and I find it great. However, I do have some thoughts on how to expand this foundation further.
Taking from the Xbox remake for this first one, A ship selection at the beginning of the game between three different ship types would make replayability more likely.
Another would be power-ups as you're going through a level to help in your carnage against the mantis. Such as a temporary laser beam, shotgun spread, or even on rare occasion an extra life.
The only gripe I have is when enemies are coming from behind, and I'm not able to actually turn my ship to shoot them.
All in all, it's fun, and I'd like to see more.

I made an open source defeder clone, though in game maker : studio 1. It might be worth to check.
It's good to see the defender tribute in gamejolt but the fact that there's no scanner and you can't move around the map at your will really drops the playability.
What made defender so special, and still extremely fun in today is the freedom of movement and the scanner to make the strategy for saving humanoids. It's something other popular shooters like gradius or raiden don't have.
But I respect your decision, because making seamless wrap and scanner is vey hard.
