Plot:
Tails, Knuckles, Dr. Eggman and Metal Sonic have successfully escaped the clutches of a phantom hedgehog. Now, it’s up to you to help Amy, Cream and Sally-. And it just stopped there, which was confusing. You started up the game, and it booted up just like Sonic Mania would. When Sonic Mania’s title screen appeared, however, there were a few slight changes. The Sonic Mania logo was now replaced with “Sonic the Hedgehog Discovery”, and the © SEGA text was now © ???. There was also a Genesis remix of the title screen theme playing. You pressed Start, and the usual Sonic Mania Plus menu came up. However, something caught your eye as I looked at the familiar options. A new option called “Phantom Mode” was among the options, and its preview picture showed something new. Tails was flying across an unusual stage with Cream flying alongside him. Knuckles, Amy and Sally Acorn were all running on the ground of this unusual stage. The stage itself looked like an alternate version of Green Hill. The vegetation was purple, and everything else was greyscale. You selected Phantom Mode, and then.. [Find out in game]
