Still an awesome game. Very cute and well done. Soundtrack is HOT! Worth every penny!

A followup to my last post: I don't know why, but no matter what computer I view the game's page on, I can't see the "rate" option. Apparently this might have something to do with the site currently being redesigned, but I'm still not sure, since I've seen the "rate" option on some other games' pages. It may be a stab in the dark, but is it possible that this page has rating disabled? (Just trying to get to the bottom of this.)
This game was a delightful (though at times mildly unsettling) adventure! The many additions to the original JTTF really do add to the environment and story (the addition of the puzzles was also a lovely surprise). I wouldn't say there are any major flaws with the game aside from a few aesthetic faux pas and minor game issues that can easily be bypassed or ignored, though there are a couple of game-crashing bugs in the first room of the prison in the 9th world and the adjacent gym. When you approach the prison guard, the screen goes black and the message "Failed to load img/sv_actors/guard.png" appears. A similar thing happens with one of (possibly both of) the Douchebags.
I can;t wait to play this version ^~^ Don;t forget thats why i havn't played itin a while. i want poeple to be able to see this newer version that you've worked so hard on ^~^ Please please please link me the DL when it's ready or hell i'll even pay for it xD
Description
Gameplay:
A Super NES era inspired RPG with traditional turn based combat, emphasizing the tactical use of skills and setting up combos.
Style:
A deliberate exaggeration of classic RPG tropes and cliches, with a focus on (loving) parody and satire. Absurdist humor gradually shifting more towards dark humor and psychological horror-comedy as the story progresses.
Story
Jack Hoth is a guy who plays games online, and he won an award, so he went to The Con to receive it. After a big party with his buds in his hotel room, a stranger suddenly appears and kidnaps him. With magic.
Taken to a strange classic fantasy realm, in the far flung future... the stranger tells him he must complete a quest... or die trying. Jack must either do what he's told, or never go home.
Forced to go on an adventure through a strange world, full of strange people, Jack must learn to cope with the insanity around him.
Features
A game that takes the familiar (for those who know classic RPGS), dials it up to 11, then turns it all on its head. Embrace the madness and take the ride.
No hand holding. You get tossed into the deep end, and just like Jack are forced to cope with the madness you are confronted with as best you can. Applies to both the story/exploration and combat.
A game with a lot of layers. Is it all just a silly adventure full of nonsensical whimsy? Or is it a tearing down of the human psyche into the form of an RPG? Maybe it's both, or something else entirely.
Tactical turn based combat that makes every choice count. Starts fairly easy, can be wickedly hard as the game progresses.
Dozens of skills across 6 playable characters. Including the ability to purchase spells for your mage, so you can customize his skill set to your liking.
Over 200 different enemies. Starting off with an area full of identical "mobs", and ending with nearly every encounter being unique. Every enemy encounter has unique dialog. So even the early nod to the often repetitive fights of classic RPGs, are actually unique encounters.
No Random Encounters. All encounters are on map, so you can fight everyone, or just as many as you think you need to fight to move on (free tip: 4-5 levels per area is fine).
9 main areas to explore, each with different themes you can figure out. 3 main dungeons. One optional puzzle dungeon. Game basically follows a 3 act structure.
3 areas followed by a dungeon.Original Soundtrack.
Controls:
Arrow keys, Z button for action, X button for menu/back. Shift to run, although you can turn auto-dash on I do not recommend it. Enemies are all on screen, and running around constantly makes it easy to run into them when you don't want to.
Or Mouse. Right click for Menu and Back. Left click for movement, selecting actions, etc.
Player Quotes:
"This game was a delightful (though at times mildly unsettling) adventure!"
" I think my favorite thing had to be walking around and looking at the scenery, the banter between the PCs and the various running gags!"
"This looks awesome, omg I can't rave on it enough!"
"Please upload the soundtrack, would love to listen to the music while I am working!"
