Weird and kinda too much for my brain to handle at once, but still pretty neat. If I had to give a suggestion I'd say I want more immediate and noticeable feedback for hitting or missing a circle.
Could you make it so you play the notes to the music, instead of randomly?
Game a Week #8 - One Button DDR
This is DDR... using only the space bar. There are four available button states. Pressed, Not Pressed, letting go of the space bar, and pressing the space bar.
Controls:
Space Bar Down
Space Bar Up
Space Bar Just Pressed
Space Bar Just Released

This week's theme was one button game. I had thrown around the idea of a game that makes use of all four transitions of the space bar but wasn't sure of all its capabilities. One Button DDR seemed to be the best way to explore the allowed transitions. This prototype is a bit more incomplete, due to difficulty with music stuff, but I think it taught me what I needed.
One important surprise I discovered me was the amount of difficulty I found trying to perform the green hits (Space Bar Just Released). Games don't make use of letting go of a key + timing very often and I was not used to the sensation. It doesn't feel natural. I think there is something further that could be explored dealing with timing of releasing various keys. Maybe something I will come back to one day.

I am currently making a game a week in a prototype course at the NYU Game Center. I decided I wanted to publish each of these projects weekly to get feedback and see what people think.
These are complete works in the sense I don't have expectations to work on them further (unless you all love one for whatever reason).
