Story

You are D-Class personnel number D-9974. You have been chosen by our research team to help the foundation by exploring SCP-087.

This is exploration test IV. You are provided with the necessary equipment: A 75W flood lamp with battery power capable of lasting 24 hours, a handheld camcorder fitted with an audio headset for communication with your assigned scientist and lastly a pack of high efficiency L.E.D lamps that may only be attached when your assigned scientist commands you to.

An altimeter will regularly check your current exploration depth inside SCP-087.

You are also equipped with a backpack containing several litres of water, a large pack of nutrient bars, and a thermal blanket.

A document will be provided in the monitoring room for fundamental information about the SCP we are studying.

Key essential information

SCP-087 is an unlit platform staircase in which you are required to walk down to, until said otherwise by a scientist or higher foundation member. The ending of the staircase has yet to be reached.
The design of SCP-087 limits your visual range to approximately 1.5 stair flights, limiting light sources to near complete darkness, and absorbing excess light above 75 watts.
You may find the profuse darkness intimidating, but this is normal and something that you will easily overcome.
Your freedom will be granted once you complete this exploration.
Defying the orders of the scientist guiding you through SCP-087, will result in severe consequences, so it is important you follow orders.
