Shards of Reality is...
An RPG - Players traverse a variety of foreign lands in order to defeat a terrible force that threatens to wipe out everything. Along the way, they must gather ancient artifacts which are ultimately the key to the showdown between you and this fiend.
One hell of a fangame - The game's cast of characters was not completely, or even mostly, made by me. They are actually all fan-characters (of a higher quality, mind) that have been gathered from a corner of the Internet and brought to life. I believe, out of all of the playable characters, I've only made three.
A bit too big - Fifty playable characters. Twenty explorable worlds. And don't even get me started of the skills that one can wield in battle... I don't even WANT to count how many I've made so far.
Going overkill on the soundtrack - With 145 tracks and counting, Shards of Reality's soundtrack borrows from some of gaming's most noteworthy tunes, including music from Super DanganRonpa 2, The World Ends With You, and The Legend of Zelda, to appeal to fans of the songs and also to introduce new music to those unfamiliar with certain tracks. Of course, credit is given where credit is due - I don't own these songs, and probably never will.
Inspired by the greats - Shards of Reality takes little pieces from RPG culture and applies it in its own way, which should be fairly obvious by this point. The game takes inspiration most specifically from the adventuring format of Kingdom Hearts, the quirky humor and enemies of Earthbound, and the musical variety of The World Ends With You.
Obviously free - I mean, considering how much of the content doesn't belong to me, and that it's showing up on here, it's a bit of a no-brainer that it's going to be a free game. So be grateful that you're getting this huge blob of content with no expense!
Yep. That's Shards of Reality, all right. And currently, only one person is working on it. That one person has their work cut out for them and clearly has several screws loose for not abandoning this project yet.
