When I move off the screen to one side and just keep going left and never stop, my ship eventually vanishes at the bottom, also when I do this my weapon does not hit anything, just passes though the asteroids. And when moving constantly to the right my ship goes up and up, also can not hit anything, I think you need to block the ships movement when it hits the edges of the screen.
