there are 2 components to an RPG Maker VX Ace game:
1. the launcher
2. the data
the launcher takes the data and runs the game. The launchers are identical and interchangeable, the data is all that constitutes a game.
the data may be encrypted (rgss3a) or just sitting in a folder

Yes, the launcher is missing, but it don't matter!
You may play pretend that Lisa needs to be purchased on Steam to play this, but that's just not true. you can grab any Game.exe launcher from anywhere and this will work.
so if i never gave mr yostin his canadian dollar, i can just download this, download lisa the vegaful, put Game.exe from Vegaful into here, and bing bang wahoo, the game fucking works

ive noticed a lot of people in the comments have trouble "uninstalling" the mod

You have perpetuated the misconception that this is a mod that you can install and uninstall from the vanilla Lisa

This is a separate game, a completely standalone RPG Maker project, and you should call it what it is.

(The mod has received very little in terms of updating since its original release/releases over five years ago, and since then Painful has received its own new version recreated in Unity and is still available in its original form on multiple platforms. If I will be frank, I personally feel the mod hasn’t aged the best over the years. With a couple of rough snags here and there. And while I would personally recommend sticking to base Painful. I completely understand if you still plan on checking this out.)
(For those that may have seen or heard that I was previously working on a large-scale update for the mod, as of writing this is no longer happening due to multiple factors. I'd still like to talk sometime about what said update would have contained, though.)

This is for the original version of Painful, NOT Definitive Edition. You cannot combine the two and this does not work on said Unity Version.

LISA: Desolate Expanse is a mod created for the game LISA: The Painful RPG, originally released in 2014 by Austin Jorgensen(AKA Widdly 2 Diddly/LoveBradGames).
The purpose of this mod is to add a bunch of features and rebalance the original game to make it something more replayable and overall a more interesting way to re-experience the original game.
WARNING: IT'S HIGHLY SUGGESTED YOU PLAY NORMAL MODE FIRST TO GET THE FULL EXPERIENCE.
FEATURES:
Rebalanced Combat, most moves, status effects, enemies, and equipment receiving touchups and changes.
Bugfixes and new gameplay features/changes, such as death quotes, redone party withdrawal, new mechanics for certain party members, and much more!
Three new party members!(Yes, only three.)
New NPC Dialogue spread throughout the game. As well as new NPCs too!
25+ New Encounters!
Brand New Areas, and some old ones revisited.
A tiny dog's companionship.
A remade pain mode difficulty.
And a companion piece to a life ruining experience.
FAQ
Q: How do I play this mod?
A: Simply download it and extract the contents of the rar file. You can do this with any kind of software you like. After this, locate where you have LISA: The Painful installed on your computer. Following that, all you should have to do is place the folders and files within the download to your install folder for the game. And that's all that you need to do! (WinRAR is suggested for extraction, but any software should be fine for it.)
Q: How do I uninstall it?
A: Re-download the game on whatever platform you purchased it on/Make a Backup of the Game-files and replace them when you want the mod removed/Verify Game Integrity on Steam. Take your pick.
Q: Do I need the original game to play this?
A: Yes. It will not work without the original game. This is to be put into the original game's files and it downright impossible to work without them. If you don't have the original game, you can grab it from these places:
