What do you think?

I like how this is turning out so far, the graphics look really nice (It's definitely worth the 20 USD from what i saw, really loved it), and the controls felt nice to control as well!

10/10; Excited to see what this will end up being

A simple platformer. You can run, jump and wall jump around, in a level with some blocks and pickups. There's even a couple enemies you can punch.

Controls:

  • Arrow keys or A/D keys move left and right

  • W key or space jumps

  • Z or Ctrl key punches

  • X or Alt slides

  • Escape key exits the game (the web version does not handle this correctly, though)

Uses wonderful art by Phil Giarrusso (https://rephil.itch.io/green-greens-forest-pixel-art-platformer-asset-pack).

The idea behind this was to create a tutorial-sized game without the aid of a tutorial using a pre-made art pack (I am about as far from an artist as you can get). This will help further my learning journey with this engine.

This is not intended to be much of a 'real game', and will never be sold. More like a prototype/demo sort of thing, but you're still welcome to try it out.

0.0.4: A Real GUI!

- Nice bitmap font and icons for GUI

- New slide ability

The slide is a bit rudimentary, but it mostly works. Starting to look a little more like a game.

0.0.3: Some Prettiness!

- Parallax background

- Some more tiles (foreground and background)

- Slightly longer test level

Looks a lot more interesting now. Even has some platforms!

0.0.2: A new enemy!

- New mushroom enemy that hides when you walk away

- A couple of bugs fixed

One more enemy to punch, and both still disappear after being damaged (for now).

0.0.1: An enemy! And end-level tally!

- You can now damage, and be damaged by, a carrot enemy

- The end-level screen now includes a tally of coins and enemies defeated

A little bit more to do, and a fancy end-level and game over display

0.0.1-alpha.4: A game loop!

- You can now restart the level after reaching the flag

- The coins collected are tracked and shown at the end

- Quite a bit of refactoring under the hood

Now the game won't just sit there when you're done
