What do you think?

Please remember that its unfinished. Some tips for you until we load a better version:

-aim doorknob to the center of the screen (we don't have interaction icon).
-there's a key in the drawer near where you begin.
-there are invisible walls that block you. try going another way.

Sorry for all the problems, we'll get a fixed version sooooon!

Version 0.4a Changelist:

Fixes:

Removed unacceptable quality settings on stand alone build.
Increased key size by 20%. Doubled collider size
Fixed many of the colliders size and shape
Moved library key to more appropriate area
Increased arm size by 60%
Fixed z-fighting wall blocker at east staircase
Turned off light in museum and hooked up to fuse box
Fixed error on summoning circle when you aren't carrying anything
Replaced some of the doors
Added error messages to doors that led outside.
Improved HUD
Improved flashlight radius. Added ambient light around player.
Fixed blocker on servant's area that never opened up.
Set flashlight splotlight to rendering important
Added flashlight to a separate layer so it doesn't poke through walls.
Game is now beatable
Added lighting to beast to call him out more.
Fixed cursor lock (I think)
Crouching isn't permanent
Fixed some code for performance boost
Removed some colliders for performance boost
New collider on spiral stairs, but still needs more fixing

Features:

Added a pause menu
Added footstep sounds
Added death camera to player when killed by Beast

Darn, I just couldn't get that key D: Tried hard though! I really like the idea for the game and hope to see further updates!

A dark night. it's the end of the roaring twenties and you just woke up with a headache. There's blood and... something else here. What happened?

What Remains is a game created by Minion Studios for the #ASYLUMJAM, a 48-hour contest held around Halloween 2014. The parts for the game have been in development of and on for a year or two... this jam was a great excuse to get the game working again!

The controls are FPS standard:

WASD to walk around

Mouse to look around

Shift to run

Ctrl to sneak

Left-Click to interact

Right-Click to toggle flashlight

Space to hold your breath

We enjoyed making the game - feel free to make videos or what-not, we don't mind. Please feel free leave us some feedback!

Update #2 11/16/2014

  • Added Edison radio with radiodial material (emmissive)

  • Added decals - made blood materials, doilies, desk mats

  • Switch blood decals for lower-poly, fixed pentagram material, but did not change object

  • Furnished much much more of the mansion

  • Organized hierachy asset folders, added hallways, stored loose objects.

  • Removed doubled paintings Hallway one.

  • Added Victrola mesh and textures, made materials/prefab

  • Added Kitchen Floor mesh

  • Created/added low-poly, half res bookgroups for shelves & curio (x3)

  • Furnishings - lots of asset placement

  • Fixed objects material texture, but it's a megatexture that is incomplete

  • Added large Wall Curtains to Foyer and Grand Hall

  • Added grandfather clock asset & clockface material

  • Added wardrobe (hidable!) asset

Horror! What Remains updated!

We fixed a mad mad amount of stuff since our Asylum Jam entry last week. Check it out and try not to die a horrible horrible death like I do every time I play it.
