One more edition, thanks for playinng all these games Jupiter. Glad you liked this particular one. Read you in the next jam :).
Really nice game. I included it in my Familiar Game Jam 5 compilation video series, if you would like to check it out! https://youtu.be/L0kEZG7JIGY
A plataformer for the #familiargamejam5, where a game must be made within 48 hours. Very simple in appearance and execution, deals with the theme of deconstruction.
The theme is conveyed twofold: first, game mechanics and their justifications are removed as levels are completed . Second, the game's appearance does change slightly with each dissapeared mechanic. Read [http://gamejolt.com/games/winter/104141/news/thoughts-on-winter/105340] for extended babbling :).
All coding is done in C++ with SDL2 using the mighty gedit. Graphics have been done in-house using the gimp - the only exception being the background picture (a gimp filter of a www.morguefile.com image). Music comes from musopen.org. Sounds were copied and pasted from old projects (I think they came from flashkit.com).
The Windows executable redistributes all the dlls that the game needs (mostly SDL2 related). For some reason it's slightly bigger than the rest, but keep in mind that the music is most of the size anyway.
If you wish to tinker with the code you can do so at https://github.com/TheMarlboroMan/winter-fgj5 . Quick warning: this project depends on a couple more that you can also find in the same github account. Take a look at the readme.md file of the project for more info.
Note to linux users: Winter is binded to SDL2 and its related audio and image libraries. You will need to install those dependencies on your system to play or compile it.
